Award & Tag

It is so HAZY HOT and HUMID in New York today! We do need some summer wind to cool us down!

(I also had a long dentist appointment today, so I have to apologize that I have not been able to visit blogs today to leave comments. I hope to catch up tomorrow! )

Diane, of the pretty blog A Picture is Worth A Thousand Words presented me with the pretty "Brillante Weblog" award this weekend!
Thank you, Diane, for thinking about me, and presenting this award to my blog! It came at a perfect time to cheer me up!
Diane shares her life in Mississippi as a retired teacher and grandmother extraordinaire to two adorable little boys, and her talents and interests in antiques, crafts, scrapbooks, and photography!

Edited to add: Tara of the sweet blog "Days Missed On A Hammock" also gave me the same award today! Thank you Tara! Tara has a wonderful family and lots of zest for life, decorating, parenting, and we are in the progress of doing virtual exercises together to get into shape!

I don't see any "rules" attached to this award, so I'd love to pass this on to a few blogs who I'd love for you to take some time to visit, if you aren't already familiar with them! I always enjoy visiting them, learning new things from them, and they always make me smile!

Kathy, at Have Suitcase Will Travel

Melanie at JellyBeanAngel

Steviewren at a little birdie told me so

Louise at Home Is Where The Heart Is

Tracy at The Pink Purl

Marina at Only Cute Things

Enjoy this beautiful award ladies, and please feel free to pass it on to other blogs that you would like to introduce to others!

I've also been tagged by Cori at the soothing blog Gingerbread Crumbs & Company. Cori has a beautiful blog which displays her many wonderful projects and crafts, and her daily life in Southern California, and the tenets of her strong Christian faith.

Here's the rules of this tag:

1. Link to the person who “tagged” you.
2. Post the rules on your blog.
3. Write six random things about yourself.
4. Tag six people at the end of your post.
5. Let each person know that they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.
6. Let the tagger know your entry is up.

I've done something like this before, but of course there are always many things that others may not know about us!

Here are six random facts about me today:

1) I've owned, (or rather been owned by), a cat almost my entire life

2) I don't know how to swim.

3) I was once a passenger on the Cunard ocean liner Queen Mary 2.

4) I met my husband on a ski trip 35 years ago!

5) I love to garden, but have to grow everything in containers or pots as I have no soil in my backyard.

6) I love foreign films with subtitles. Watching them is a little like reading a book in 3-D.

Since I'm supposed to choose 6 bloggers to play along, I'm tagging the same six whom I presented the above award!

I hope they will all join in with the fun!

I didn't really pick up on the fact that you are a 'cat' person. Me, too. They are so special to me and I love neat pictures of cats, which reminds me that I need to draw and paint some cats. Congrats on your awards! Your blog is great and I love visiting everyday.

Congratulations Pat on your award! Very well deserved!

I like the six random things about you. It's funny how you mention being onboard the ship, and then mention that you can't swim! Good thing there are life jackets nowadays!

Thanks everyone! I had so many injections of novacaine for my dental work today that I was sore and cranky and did not go online much to catch up with all of you!

Lisa -- I met my husband skiing locally upstate New York.

Lavinia -- LOL! I made sure the lifeboats were right outside my cabin too!

Kathy -- you are right -- maybe I will learn to swim someday! Glad you are enjoying the NYT articles on the sidebar too!

Pat, thanks for the award and the tag. If it is okay with you I will post my facts day after tomorrow when I finish with the blog on Monet. Hmmm, what stuff about me have I not already spilled the beans about....

Your cat is a beauty. And I love foreign films too. After a few minutes you forget that you have to read. Please recommend your faves sometime.

Yup, I hear ya! These awards are getting...well, labor intensive. :D

Thanks so much Pat for passing on the award and tag to me, and well done to you for winning the award and playing along with the tag in the first place! I do hope you aren't in too much discomfort after your appointment in the dentist's chair. I am off now to read through your random facts. Have a lovely morning, afternoon or evening, whatever time it is in NY! x

Me again! I have just read your 6 random facts. I am not good at swimming either, oddly as I have always lived on the coast. Lovely to have pots, but a devil to keep watered in the high temperatures you are experiencing, I daresay. x

Hi, Pat! Love the pic of your NYC sky! Congrats on your award...and thank you so much for sharing this one with me, you are a sweetheart! :o) Loved reading your random things...Our cat owns us I'm sure, not the other way around ;o) And I love films with subtitles too! Your flowers are beautiful! Happy Day, my friend ((HUGS))

Morning Pat, beautiful pics. Your cat looks so sweet. My fav NY building is the Chrysler. Pure Art Deco (1931 I think) gorgeousness. I think the ELC Building looks like a gothic cathedral at the top. One day I'll fly over them being snap happy with the camera. For now I'll pop in to the damp park. :-)

Congratulations on the award and thank you for passing it on to me. I'll do the meme in my next posting. The girl from NC was saying just how energy sapping the heat and humidity was in NC at the moment. Sympathies but I'd swap some of this rain for a bit of your sunshine. :-)

Hi Pat,
Thanks for posting and congratulations on another award. I'm embarrassed to say it, but when I put my original post up and tagged 4 people not one responded for days and days so I deleted the people I tagged off my post...oooppss! But it's still fun to find out new things. I'm with you on the swimming thing...never learned. I hear the QE2 is beautiful!
Have a fun week.
Oh, I love the sonogram in your side bar...so sweet. It looks like he's looking right at you.
:) Cori
