Sweet Little Grandchild, What Will You Be?

"It's funny what happens when you become a grandparent. You start to act all goofy and do things you never thought you'd do. It's terrific."~ Mike Krzyzewski

When my son and daughter-in-law first told us they were expecting our first grandchild in May, I was so excited I ran over to the Yankee Store in the South Street Seaport, in Manhattan, to buy some baby things, because my son is a avid Yankee baseball fan. I picked up a tee shirt, pacifier, receiving blanket, bath towel, and a bib -- almost anything I could find for an infant that had the Yankee logo on it. When my husband saw them he said: "Very nice, but what if the baby is a girl?" I said: "No problem, she'll still be a Yankee fan!" Of course the baby will also be a Colorado Rockies fan, since my son and daughter-in-law have settled in Colorado, but I know that another avid Yankee fan is destined to be born soon.

Yesterday, my daughter-in-law had a routine sonogram, and they were told that 99.9% it was a .......................................................BOY!

I guess my rash first impulse was right! We were all so very happy and excited to see the sonogram photos of the little guy, and we can't wait to be able to hold him in our arms!

We are preparing, and dreaming about becoming GRANDPARENTS in the fall!

"If nothing is going well, call your grandmother." ~ Italian Proverb

What a sweet post, Pat! Our little Baby Noah is a Yankee's Fan, a Cubs Fan and a Cards Fan. Yep, that's right. The kids saw the Yankees in Spring Training even. They've flown and driven to Chicago for Cards/Cubs games or just for Cubs games. Living in St Louis, they are diehard Cards Fans, even when they've had off seasons!! I am confused, that is for certain!:-) My other babies are Cards Fans. Just as sweet and less confusing for dear ol' G'ma!

Being G'ma is the absolute best!

Have a great weekend.
Pat

How sweet..and very exciting! You will be a great grandma, I'm sure! And I do agree that even if the baby was a girl, she could still be a Yankee fan! :)

The blessed event is drawing ever nearer! Your excitement and joy is palpable. Remember what Melanie Wilkes said, in Gone With The Wind: "The happiest days are when babies come!"

I remember when my daughter was born, her grandfather was so nervous about dropping her that he had to sit down before holding her and he was practically atremble when she was placed in his arms....so sweet!

You? A grandmother? You are much too young for that!:>) But congratulations, what wonderful news. You must be so excited. Congratulations to your whole family!

Oh Pat, I'm sending you a big hug and a hearty congratulations! A boy! How wonderful! I am trying to wait patiently until my daughter is far enough along to find out the sex of her baby. I would love to make a quilt, but the one I envision is for a girl...I will wait because a boy will need something quite different. You made exactly the right choices. A Yankees fan is on his way!

How very exciting, Pat! I remember the rush of excitement myself and watching your own baby grandson on film will be wonderful. Mine gave me the thumb's up sign...loved it! He's a Mets fan, though, hope that that won't cause a rift. ;>

Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy... Grandmothers are entitled to be goofy for now and forever. My own grandmother is as in love with me as she ever has been...what a blessing! :D

What a touching "Lil Yankee" post!! Oh, the fun you will have with your future grandson! I have loved every single stage my g-daughter has gone through!(She's 2) She had my heart from the moment we met. It melted the first time I saw her smile, then again each time she says "nana".

Have a great weekend and I LOVED "Mamma Mia"!

I'm so excited for you Pat! Your life will be so enriched with the addition of your Grandson. You will enjoy every stage so much! My Grand daughter is 7 now and we get a kick out of her when she calls us up and just wants to talk about her day, or her dog, or Hannah Montana. We put the phone on speaker and my Hubby and I just crack up with her. At the end of the conversation we melt when she says I love you Gramma and Papa!
Thats the best part!!

Pat, I know in my heart that you are going to be a wonderful grandmother. My mother used to tell me that being a grandmother was so different, but I just didn't understand. Then my life changed when my grandson was born. I adore that child.

I am so happy for you. Wonderful times are on the way.

It is more than exciting watching you prepare as you become a new grandmother.
After this weekend, I don't know what to say. I feel like I don't have a life besides my grandsons.
I actually do, but I sure love having them over.

This post has brought a smile to my face Pat. I can just picture baby Yankee fan in his little outfits. You must be so excited, as so must be your son and daughter-in-law. I can't wait to see and hear news of the new arrival, any more than you can! x
