Key West Pink!

We recently celebrated our 34 wedding anniversary on the island Key West, Florida, and my last few blogs have been been about that pretty place.

As I walked around the island I realized I was seeing quite a bit of pink! Pink everywhere -- from the bright pink of the private house above to the pale pink of the San Carlos Institute on Duval Street, below.

Also on Duvall Street was Jimmy Buffett's pink Margaritaville! Now where is my lost shaker of salt?

There is also a department store called Fast Buck Freddie's on Duval Street which had the most wonderful displays in the windows and inside, and I was charmed to find this pink feather holiday tree full of flamingo ornaments! Click on the photo to enlarge it for a better view.

They also had this pretty table setting which had flamingo designs mixed with pink plaid -- a snazzy combination, don't you think?

This sculpture called "Daydreams" by renowned Key West sculptor J. Seward Johnson was of giant pink skinned women dancing around a reclining man figure was outside the Key West Custom House Museum.

The sculpture was inspired by the Henri Matisse’s painting of “The Dance.”

Below is The Southernmost House on Key West. It was once a private residence, now it is a 13 room hotel.

Key West is also know as The Conch Republic, so pretty pink conch shells are sold everywhere!

One of the cab companies on Key West has bright pink cabs for hire!

There are many free roaming chickens on Key West and also many six toed cats. I couldn't find a pink chicken or cat but I did find these pink cat fence post decorations for sale in a booth in Mallory Square! Aren't they cute?

One of the best things to do in Key West is enjoy the spectacular sunsets at the sunset celebration that happens each night in Mallory Square.

Here are a couple of sunsets that turned the sky beautiful shades of pink!

I hope you enjoyed my Key West themed Pink Saturday post!

To see more wonderful pink posts visit Beverly at How Sweet The Sound for the list of all the blogs which are participating in Pink Saturday.

Thanks, Beverly, for hosting such a wonderful event each Saturday!

Hi Pat! Sorry for the delay in coming here, but these last weeks have been hectic; no, I’m not talking about the financial/economic crisis… ;))
WOW! Loved to re-visit the Conch Republic through your lens! Great post and lovely pictures!
As far as pink is concerned, I just put a bottle of pink Moet in the fridge... ;)
Meanwhile Blogtrotter is now on its 200th post: «The Libyan Sea»! Hope you enjoy! Have a great weekend!

What wonderful pinkness! I had to laugh at the pink tree- how quirky!

Before I saw an art teacher's pink car, I had only seen one in the Pink Panther. It's great that the taxis are pink.

I have a conch in the bathroom. I wonder if it came from there?

You did justice to pink Saturday...great photos! I had to laugh at the statue picture...it looks like someone decided that the perfect place for a siesta was beneath the dancing girls. Beautiful sunsets!

Oh Pat, You will be happy to know I have your lost shaker of salt. I took it with me and forgot to put it back. But you will have to come here to So Cal again to get it back. Or I can bring it with me when I go to NY. LOL

Hugs,
Joanne

Happy Pink Saturday, my dear Pat.

This is the absolute perfect pink post. Every picture makes me smile, and I do believe I am in love with the flamingo tree. I bet my husband would be glad that we have no where to put it. ;-)

I'm not much of a "pink" person...although the "girls" of my household like it! Pretty shots of the sunset though. Have a great weekend.

Beautiful pink post! Did you buy one of the flamingo Christmas ornaments as a souvenier? When ever we travel we try to bring back an ornament...

I'm so glad you put this post together, Pat. I love pink and you've given us such happy examples of the colour. I recall a line from John Cougar's song that went "Pretty pink houses for you and me".

Isn't it fascinating that this one particular colour dominates Key West. It's a part of Florida I haven't seen but somehow feel I would be right at home in.

The conch shells are my favourite...I have a few in my home and never tire of them.

Pat, love that Key West pink post. I have not seen some of this stuff. The Dance is so different. That sculpture is new to me. The shells the sunset, everything is great. Go pink!

How lovely pink article, carissima. Each line reflects us a piece of love, fascination and delight. And the worst is that your trip made me impatient to pack and go to Sunshine State, oh I missed it! Maybe better to find my FL photo album and refresh my memories.
