A Short Trip

"Listen! The wind is rising, and the air is wild with leaves,
We have had our summer evenings, now for October eves!"
~ Humbert Wolfe

We are going away for a few days! My suitcases have been getting a workout lately.

Don't you love the artsy suitcases above? They were for sale in a gift store in the Hotel Del Coronado in San Diego, CA.

I remember when suitcases actually looked like this, and a person could pack an entire wardrobe within one, as they were surprisingly deep, yet compact. Going on a long trip, far away, you would acquire lots of decals from different destinations to place on them. Sort of visual passport record of where you had travelled! It was so romantic in a way, but I love the rolling wheels and long handles that current suitcases have, so I wouldn't trade them in for these!

My husband and I are celebrating a special day that is coming up ..... can you guess what it is? Watch for my pre scheduled post to see if you guessed right!

We are grateful there are no hurricanes in the forecast, and that this time away will be very quiet and restful before all the holiday rush begins.

See you soon!

Safe travels, Pat! I have a suitcase much like those in the photo, just not in good shape...it does have the stickers, though.

Congrats on whatever occasion you are celebrating...anniversary or new grandbaby perhaps!!

Have a great hols Pat. I have an old Victorian trunk which still has the railway sticker from travelling in yorkshire. In Oxford's Covered Market you can buy modern travelling trunks. I liked to imagine that some young national geographic subscriber would pack a heap of these and go "off to Timbuctoo in darkest Africa".

I'm guessing anniversary. Have a wonderful time.

Hi Pat! I love those old suitcases too.

Hmmm, is it your anniversary? At first I thought maybe your grandbaby would be arriving soon, but then you said restful, and thought it must be something else. As wonderful as the arrival of a baby is, it is definitely not restful! Whatever you are doing, I hope you are having a wonderful time!

I'm guessing---you are going to meet your grandson! Cause I think he was due to enter this world in October!!! If that is the reason for your trip---it will be one you will never forget! BUT if you're heading out to celebrate something else---like, well, your anniversary or a milestone birthday--then I hope it's the best celebration ever!!
Whatever the reason, have a great time! Be safe. And be ready to SHARE with us!!! Dana
