Chicago!

I seem to be living out of a suitcase these days, as I hop from one place to another, but I really wouldn't have it any other way as I love to travel. Any opportunity that comes my way to go somewhere I am seizing the moment with full abandon. I am a person who has lived her entire life in the same place, even down the same block in Brooklyn, New York, so I find it invigorating to live vicariously somewhere else for a few days.  My husband and I took a quick trip to Chicago, Illinois, this past weekend.  It was my first trip to the windy city, but it certainly won't be my last, as I absolutely loved it! Even though the temperature went from a hot and humid 80's on Thursday to cold and rainy 50's on Saturday, it didn't ruin our fun. Today's photo mosaic is just a quick overview of some of the special sights my husband and I saw while we were there.  More to follow soon! (The mosaic will enlarge in size for easier view if double clicked on)

That looks like our favorite pizza....Giordanos. We've even had them shipped in for special occasions. I LOVE Chicago. So exciting that you get to travel so much now.

I don't blame you, Pat. I would be traveling also if and when the opportunity arose... Do it while you are young and CAN.... Some people wait too long and then aren't able to travel.

I've been to Chicago --and love their pizza with a passion..... When I was there, I got to go to a Cubs game... That was when Harry Caray was there. "Take me out to the Ballgame"....... ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Great photos. I have very fond memories of a trip to Chicago for a college event . . . needless to say, you can imagine what fun 4 girls from Boston got into and out of! It's the old "what happens in Chicago, stays in Chicago!" I'd love to go back with my husband!

Hello Pat, I so loved visiting Ireland with You and am looking forward to more Chicago... Traveling with You is almost ;) as fun as being there myself! Your warmth, kindness, enthusiasm, stunning photos and interesting info is so appreciated (((Pat)))I'm happy for You being able to visit so many wonderful places. I feel the same way about exploring and discovering new places. I've been fortunate to travel some with my husband with his work in Canada, mostly B.C. and the Yukon. Our daughter, 22yrs, is graduating from Ottawa U this June, I'm so looking forward to being there. Even tho my husband can only get away for a few days, I'm able to stay on longer for 1 1/2weeks. :) Margaret from B.C.

It must have been fun!

My husband was just yearning for some deep dish pizza the other day. I was kind of surprised because he usually doesn't prefer it.

I absolutely adore Chicago. I could stay in the Art Institute for weeks. When I was last there, one of the Universities downtown had just opened an exhibit on Caravaggio ... digital photos of all of C's work ... bits and pieces all over downtown Chicago. Amazing!

The closest I came to Chicago was flying into O'Hare and then in a couple of hours flying out again! That was in 1982 and I was with Don on the way to San Francisco! The tulips in the mosaic are incredibly beautiful! Enjoy the travel, it sounds delightful!

I look forward to more photos and your surely interesting stories about Chicago! It's been on my "must-see" list for quite sometime. Last time we came close to visiting there, we chose to buy a house instead. When the coffers fill up again, we'll be Chicago bound (and NYC bound ... and DC bound ... and ...).

OH Yummy looking Chicago Pizza Pat. It is an interesting time in our life to be able to hop on a plane and visit places we've never been. A few of us might be venturing further east this summer for a quick visit to VA. I am learning to never say never.

I am thrilled for you, Pat, with your whirlwind trips all over the globe since I have come to know you. I am really jealous, too, for that used to be my life until my job dramatically ended two years ago. I am ever so grateful that I traveled like a crazy person when I had the opportunity to do so. One never knows when the situation can change and I advise people to seize every opportunity to see this wonderful world in which we live.

Thank you so much for sharing it all with us. Can you believe, except for constant plane changes at ORD, I've never been to Chicago!!
