Happy Mother's Day!

I hope you all have a beautiful and happy Mother's Day this weekend!

As promised on this-click here-blog post, I wanted to show the souvenir I purchased from an antique dealer stand I saw in St. George's Market on a recent trip to Belfast, Northern Ireland.

It was on this table of goodies!  Can you guess what caught my eye?

It was this Aynsley China loving cup commemorating the Queen Mother's ninetieth birthday .

..

... which was on August 4th, 1990.

Inside it reads:
1900- To Commemorate H.M.Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother's Ninetieth Birthday -1990

I always admired Queen Mother Mary while she was alive and I thought this cup would be a perfect cup to remember her and my trip to Belfast.  I hope all Mothers will be treated like a Queen this Sunday!

Linking to a very Happy Pink Saturday event on Beverly's blog How Sweet the Sound

Please join me on Monday where I'll be continuing to show more of Northern Ireland's magical Causeway Coast and the Giant's Causeway.

What a gorgous first picture, the colors are awesome!! Is it a crab apple tree? The mug is really fancy, will you actually use it, or just keep it as a keepsake?

Love, love, LOVE it! Exactly what I would probably have bought had I been there. Ha! I always liked to bring back something special when I used to travel years ago. I can't imagine NOT bringing anything back.

Happy Mother's Day Weekend, Pat!

Hi Pat, I love the photo of the pink blooming tree. It is stunning. I think your purchase of the lovely cup to commemorate the queen Mother's birthday is so sweet. I always admired her too and was so sad when she passed away. Queen Elizabeth is certainly following in her mother's footsteps. She looks wonderful and so happy at the Royal Wedding. You are sentimental and that is such a nice attribute.

Happy mother's day Pat and enjoy your day.
Hugs, Jeanne

I love that!! I was in London in 1990 on the Queen Mother's birthday. She didn't invite me to her party, though!
Do you know what is so surprising to me? That the cup was found in Northern Ireland!
Lucky YOU!

I'm wishing for Queenly treatment for you this weekend as well! Love your gift to yourself.

The blooming tree is gorgeous. Our spring blooms have faded. They made an early show. It's time for Day Lilies next.

Happy Mother's Day. I was thinking it was the little pair of round pots behind the geese.

Beautiful cherry blossom. The wind has sadly taken mine now.

Happy Pink Saturday, Pat. I hope you had a nice Mother's Day.

Is that a tulip tree or a pink magnolia? Wow, it is gorgeous.

I sure wish you could go back to that table and grab those white Staffordshire pups for me. Ha!

I always admired the Queen Mother, too. It seems she has passed her great genes to her daughter.
