The assemblage composition above is by the artist Tom Wesselmann and is entitled "Still Life # 30" completed April 1963.
It is composed of "oil, enamel and synthetic polymer paint on composition board with collage of printed advertisements, plastic flowers, refrigerator door, plastic replica of 7 Up bottles, glazed and framed color reproduction and stamped metal."
Click on to enlarge to see detail. Isn't it a fun three dimensional piece?
Next, is a view of the second floor Marron Atrium located in MoMa, where the movie " Pour Your Body Out" by the Swiss artist Pipilotti Rist is playing on exhibit until February 2, 2009 on the atrium's 25 foot high screens. It has quite a few scenes that immerse the spectator in the color pink, and is very beautiful and unusual!
You can see a Youtube of the artist explaining the concepts of her movie, while it plays in the background at MoMa, here.
Next, we see a portion of an cast iron fence with very fanciful shaped finials, in the Architecture & Design department of MoMa. I love the bright pink background used for the display!
Last, we see a very interesting window design in the MoMa gift shop consisting of multicolored neon lights with a collage of different swirls of multicolored wool behind it. The wool had a section that was predominantly pink ( upper left ) so I thought this would qualify. Enlarge to see all the detail!
I hope you enjoyed this view of PINK modern art!

They are all very interesting pieces. I really like the "Still Life #30". It would be fun to have a pink icebox :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat photos!
I'm laughing here, Pat, because when we moved to our new house in the 60's, our fridge was pink... not shocking pink, but pink. My mother didn't like it a bit, but she lived with it for a pretty long time. LOL! I love the deep pink of that one, and all of the strong colors. Such a great display. I loved looking at all of this.
ReplyDeleteI have a little something for you at my blog, and this little birdie is not telling...
XO,
Sheila :-)
Very intriguing art pieces...I did enjoy the details. I loved the yogurt (have been eating so much of the stuff that it's running out my ears) container featured on the table...I'd never heard of yogurt in 1963. =>
ReplyDeleteThese were great. I'd love to get to see the Moma. Thanks for the virtual visit.
ReplyDeleteWonderful pieces!
ReplyDeleteI had a pink fridge and stove, in 1965-67. As a matter of fact...I had a pink sink in the kitchen too....and the bathroom was all pink! This was in a sort of transitional home, between military and civilian life. We bought our first home in early 68.
Good morning Pat and Happy Pink Saturday!
ReplyDeleteI had no idea MoMa would have so much pink, but then it has become quite the rage as far as colors go.
I love the pink refrigerator.
have a wonderful weekend!

Hello Pat, your art in pink is so interesting along with your bit of history makes it fun to read. I enlarged each one and you can't see the detail any other way. A great post today. My sister's grands call her MoMa. This makes me smile.

It's one of my dream to visit the Moma one day, we were supposed to go to New York this year for the first time of our life, but now with the NEW ARRIVAL in our falily we might instead come to look after her for a while when mama will go back to work, which means we'll cancell our American trip.
ReplyDeleteVery cool Pink Saturday post! I LOVE the first one with the retro pink fridge, of course. Would go well with my LuRay dinnerware ;0)
ReplyDeleteJillian

Hi, Pat! I'm so glad you reminded me about soaking the eggplant. I'd forgotten to include that step. I do it without even thinking. I added it to the recipe.
ReplyDeleteI hope your daughter is feeling better. I just got over a cold, which was not fun. So, I truly hope you don't get the flu. I really think my cold didn't morph into the flu because I was taking B-12 and C, plus some other immune system boosters.
I really love the pink fridge in the first picture. I enjoy MoMA. I try to get there when I'm home for a visit.
I had a pink refrigerator just like that! The inside was turquoise. All the pictures are wonderful.
ReplyDeleteLove it and love the music you have playing in the background. Very lush, n'est pas?
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely pinks. Happy belated Pink Saturday and have a lovely week.
ReplyDeleteAwesome choices for Pink Saturday! I love the '50s assemblage piece soooo much. :o)
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing celebration of the color pink. The whole concept amuses me because I'd never been fond of that color before. However, since discovering the blog world, I've actually grown quite fond of the color pink. Anyway, you find the best adventures in NYC and I appreciate it.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful pink art, Pat! Thanks for showing us.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Donna
Pat, this was so much fun. Of course, pink art must be fun.

ReplyDeleteThe still life was great...Thanks for bringing so much culture back into my life....I haven't been around it much since moving from the Northeast....well, there's not many good museums around.....
ReplyDeletePat, I love your photos of the pink modern art!
ReplyDeleteThe pink kitchen reminds me of Minnie Mouse! She had lots of pink in her kitchen!
I am so sorry your daughter has been sick. I know having the flu is tough!
Hope she is feeling better-and that you don't catch it!
Loving these visits from MOMA, Pat! :o) That little pink kitchen piece is terrific...I would love to have pink fridge, but don't think DH would been to keen on that--LOL! Thanks for this happy post...And happy week to you! ((HUGS))

The opera looked wonderful and the costumes are amazing! I've always wanted to go to the opera, but haven't yet.
The Hello Kitty statues cracked me up LOL

Morning Pat...that pink fridge reminds me of a pink stove my sister & her hubby bought when they were first married...got it at a used furniture store...I use to think it was the funniest thing..like a Barbie Doll accent! lol lol Thanks so much for going by my Aunt Kat's place girl...she will be thrilled! How is that litte Sweet Tater of your doing? I bet he is growing like a weed...our little Isabella changes everytime I see her! lol Hope you are having a great week my friend and thanks again!
