Beauty Tips

The beautiful and successful film actress Audrey Hepburn was once asked to share the secret behind her "beauty tips." She wrote the following poem, which was also read at her funeral years later.

Beauty Tips

For attractive lips,
Speak words of kindness.
For lovely eyes, Seek out the good in people.
For a slim figure,
Share your food with the hungry.
For beautiful hair,
let a child run his or her fingers
through it once a day.
For poise,
Walk with the knowledge you'll
never walk alone.
People, even more than things,
have to be restored, renewed, revived, reclaimed, and redeemed;
never throw out anybody.
Remember, if you ever need a helping hand,
you'll find one at the end of your arm.
As you grow older you will discover that you have two hands,
one for helping yourself,
the other for helping others.

Audrey volunteered tirelessly for UNICEF from 1988 until 1992, and worked in some of the most profoundly disadvantaged communities of Africa, South America and Asia. In 1992, she was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom in recognition of her work as a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador.

  3. I've read this before and often wondered if those really were her thoughts... I won't wonder anymore because I trust your research and scholarship. She really was a beautiful woman. I love two of her movies espeically...Breakfast at Tiffany's and My Fair Lady even if I do think that Julie Andrews was jipped/gypped.

  10. Pat, I love Audrey Hepburn. What an incredible actress and person she was. That poem says it ALL.

    Thanks for sharing, and is that a new photo of our boy Leo??? The one that says Super Baby, or did I somehow miss it? I always look for pics of him. What a cutie pie! It makes my day to see his cute little face, and I know it makes his Grandmother's! :-)
