I'm taking part in Mary of The Little Red House blog's "Mosaic Monday." Please check Mary's blog today for links to other blogs participating in this event. Thank you, Mary, for hosting this event and also teaching us how to make beautiful mosaics! I used the Google Picasa program to make my mosaic, using my photo files stored on Picasa. I like the program very much! I paid a nominal fee for extra storage, as I exceeded it's free usage, but I'm happy with the program's ease of storage, editing, and ability to mail whole albums to family and friends.
My mosaic today is of my adopted cat "Bo." He is eleven years old and I've had him for five years, after adopting him from one of my daughter's friends who had developed an allergy issue. He's one of the sweetest and most lovable cats that I've ever had the pleasure of welcoming into my life. His breed is a RagaMuffin, which are classically large and heavy cats.
Their personality is described as such:
"RagaMuffins are known for their stunning appearance and tender disposition. They are often likened to the soft loyalty of lapdogs. These cats appear to crave human attention and are often found in laps when their owners are otherwise distracted with television or books."
That description fits Bo to a tee, as I can not sit in a chair without him jumping up to sit on my lap and purr. His next favorite position is to lay on his back next to me to have his tummy rubbed, and his third favorite position is curled up sleeping, which he does for quite a bit of the day because of his senior age.
One of his unusual features is that he has one blue eye and one green eye, which you can see in some of the photos. His fur has to be brushed every day, and he does shed quite a bit, but those are minor chores in return for all the love he gives us.
If you are looking for a mild mannered and loving cat to be your friend, a RagaMuffin is an excellent choice!
"I love cats because I enjoy my home; and little by little, they become its visible soul."
- Jean Cocteau
Bo is a darling and that's a lovely mosaic!

Your cat is a beauty. My youngest son is a cat lover. He has two. One he adopted from the side of a convenience store where it had been abandoned. It is black with the prettiest green eyes.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cat! I love cats too, but I have to get my kitty fixes from my grandkitties.
ReplyDeletethis is so neat! Your kitty is adorable. I love it when they roll on their backs.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat,
ReplyDeleteI thoroughly enjoyed seeing the beautiful mosaic of Bo. ~WOW~
He is a true beauty! Love his fluffy white fur and his two different colored eyes. I would love to give him a great big hug.
I hope your summer has been great so far my friend.
~Warmly, Melissa :)
Your RagaMuffin is picture perfect!
ReplyDeleteBo is a beautiful cat which resulted in an equally-beautiful mosaic! Lucky Bo... I'm sure the daily brushing is a treat!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mosaic! Bo is a wonderful cat
ReplyDeleteOMG... he reminds me so much of my kitty Duke. He passed in 01' at the age of 18. He was a pure white Angora... He was my best friend & my heartbeat! I miss him so....

Hi Pat!
ReplyDeleteGreat mosaic, and nice cat... ;)
Meanwhile Blogtrotter is still turning around Iceland, now in Waterland... Enjoy and have a fabulous week!
Oh, I'd love to learn to do this. I must put it in my "someday" file for after I finish the 6 "I need to be quilted and bound" pieces I'm looking at as I type. I love your Bo.
ReplyDeleteOne of my GrandKitties is a RagaMuffin. Beautiful! Love the fuzzy kitty belly! Great captures of Bo.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cat!! stunning mosiac!
ReplyDeleteYou cat is adorable, sugar. Nice to meet someone from Brooklyn. We're from Calif. transplanted in Idaho and loving it. My daughter loves cats also but recently adopted a little dog and they are are living happily everafter, sweet chickee! :-)

Hi Pat!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a RagaMuffin. He is a beauty- He looks so fluffy, and your photos are such that I feel as though I can reach in and rub his belly!
He is so soft looking!
Adorable, and nice work on the mosaic!
I had an Angora many years ago. You did a great job on your mosaic. That is one beautiful cat.

Bo is lovely and so is your mosaic. Such lovely photographs. Not only do I share your love of New York, but my cat Mittens says hi.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I told my mom, 83, also from New York about your amazing post about the circus in Coney Island. We spent many summers walking that boardwalk together eating Coney Island french fries, and riding the parachute jump with my dad.

I love the mosaic of Bo. What a beautiful cat as well as delightful photographs. I've been seeing mosaics on blogs and wondered how it was done. Thank you for sharing your technique. I'll have to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteNow I'm dashing out the door to meet my sister. We're going on a Salt River tubing expedition today in order to cool off in Arizona's heat.
What a lovely kitty. She's really beautiful, as is your mosaic.
ReplyDeleteI did mine about an adopted friend too :)
Great mosaic and that is a beautiful cat
ReplyDeleteLovely mosaic !

Awww..your puddy tat is beautiful! I always wondered abour ragamuffins. Do they really kind of hang in your arms? That kitty is a beauty :)
ReplyDeleteOn another note, the Yanks are kicking butt, but they really need to beat the Angels and Sox! I haven't been to a game yet, but may get to go to a Red Sox game next week. Keeping my fingers xrossed!
Bo is so beautiful. We are cat allergy sufferers in our home too so admire them from afar but he looks like such a sweetie.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mosaic!

Bo is a beautiful and lucky creature! I'd never heard of that breed. We, too, have a cat who has captured our hearts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the information on what program you used...I'm new to blogging and this helps so much.
Have a wonderful day.
Would you just look at that beautiful bundle of white fluff. He is gorgeous, and he looks huge.
ReplyDeleteHe found a good friend in you. ;-)
Bo is sure bolicious:)

ReplyDeleteOh, Pat, How ADORABLE!!! Thanks so much for sharing your sweet pet at Mosaic Monday. :)
ReplyDeleteBo is gorgeous! I love cats and Bo is one beautiful cat!!!
ReplyDeleteBo is so adorable - and I love the mosaic too.
ReplyDeleteGreat mosaic Pat--those eyes are really something. I love when they lie on their backs and look up to be rubbed! I have three cats and one is a Maine Coon--very similar personality to Bo. I've had cats all my life and my Max is by far the sweetest one I've ever had.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat,
ReplyDeleteI'm not really a cat person, but your cat is a beautiful creature! I love your mosiac!
:) Diane
What a handsome old fellow Bo is!
ReplyDeleteLove your mosaic! Bo is a cutie!
ReplyDeletePat, what a lovely tribute to your cat Bo!!! He is gorgeous and looks like a kind hearted fuzzy soul:0
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this breed, but Bo is a beauty. And I love how he posed so nicely on that carpet so complementary to his coat and eye color!
ReplyDeleteWhat eyes! He is beautiful!...
ReplyDeleteThis is a great mosaic...I've been using Picasa to make mosaics too but one thing that drives me crazy is that I can't center the pics in their little squares the way I want to in each of the pics...have you found a way to do that?...They all look well cropped...
Bo is so beautiful and so sweet! Gracie is sitting here oohing and ahhing along with me!!
ReplyDeleteI had so hoped to get to NYC this Fall (meeting with some other Bloggers and YOU I had hoped!) but those plans were shelved due to Grace's cheering. I just can't come with out her becasue she loved NYC so! BUT! Bill, Grace and I plan on coming in the Spring, closer to May, and this time I will make those plans a reality!
I do hope you will be able to meet with us!
For now, visitng you here is always a treat and just stokes my NYC loving embers!! Please give Bo a tummy scratch from Grace and me. Lucy, Henry and Kip say hello!
Love,
Sue
Those photos are adorable. I have a kitty much like Bo, Miss Camille Suzanne! I ♥ her to pieces.
