Like all children who are almost one year old , he is learning to walk and likes to explore the kitchen cabinets.
There is so much we'd like to show him and so much he has to learn. Now I am thankful I was able to save this.....
...a large collection of toys his Daddy and Aunt played with when they were little!
Most are Fisher Price toys of good quality, and when the time came that they weren't being played with much anymore I cleaned them well and packed them away in a crate in my garage, hoping that one day they might be used again.
They will be staying at Nonna's and Nonno's house for the times our grandson is able to visit us from Colorado, as he has many brand new toys in his own toybox at home. I think he'll enjoy these vintage toys one day .. and there are even a few more I have yet to unpack!

They all look brand new; you did a good job keeping them, Pat.
ReplyDeleteOh I remember so many of those toys....they are in such great shape...
ReplyDeleteABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!! Lots of FUN things to play with!!!
ReplyDeleteYou preserved them nicely...and he will have so much fun with the toys! There are many familiar ones there.
ReplyDeleteYou are a super grandma! How lovely that you kept all those toys. I have a feeling they will be the ones he loves the most. They will different then anything he has seen before.
ReplyDeleteThat's one lucky little boy to have you on his side!
Hugs,
Joanne
Yes, Pat, those 'vintage' toys will be well loved all over again! I recognize them from the toy boxes my children had!
ReplyDeleteThose are so lovely Pat. I liked the sound the big red apple made. My fav Fisher Price toy was the record player. That seemed like magic when I was little. What lovely treasures you saved.
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is adorable, Pat...how much he has grown! :o) Those toys had me taking a trip down memory lane... I remember so many of those from my childhood. And they are very well "preserved" LOL! You sweet grandson will find a new world awaiting him with those toys to play with. What joy is must be to be grandparents... Happy Week, Pat :o) ((BIG HUGS))

ReplyDeletePat your grandson is adorable (but you knew that right?) I can't believe what great condition these toys are in. The Fisher Price barn was always one of my favorites! He is going to love these. Kathy
ReplyDeleteMy nieces and nephews had so many of those toys- they were so cool. I was gifted with a few of them when our Daniel came along, but sadly, I didn't keep them. They will be such fun for cute little Leo to enjoy when he comes to visit. Lesson learned- always keep everything!!
ReplyDeletehugs, Sue
I'm a Nonna too! And I spell it the same way you do! My little granddaughter is two. Its been so much fun being a Nonna. I saved a few fisher price toys that were my kids, but not as many as you have, that is really awesome!
ReplyDeleteThat little guy is so very cute!
ReplyDeleteLove that you kept these toys! What a great legacy! Hugs to you!
OMG I can't believe how big Leo is getting! He is soooo cute!! You know I'm thrilled to know that you saved those toys for him. I hope he gets to visit Nonna and Nonno very soon. He'll have plenty to keep him busy:D
ReplyDeleteI love that you saved those toys and that your grandson will get to play with them. They look brand new! I saved some of the wooden toys and all the legos and books from my kids' childhood too, but who knows if I'll ever get a grandchild to use them. I may make a lego Christmas tree instead. Love the new logo with the NYC library lion - Is that Patience or Fortitude?
ReplyDeleteI don't have grandchildren yet, but I also saved some toys from my children and can't wait to unpack them 'one of these days'. Looking at your toys brings back memories of my children. thanks for sharing and your grandbaby is a DOLL!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a treasure, Pat! I was proud of myself for keeping a lot of our children's toys, but they are nothing compared to your collection. What a wonderful keepsake for your precious little grandson. He is absolutely adorable.
ReplyDeleteOh hes a doll what fun you must have with him as he explores.
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful week

Look at that precious baby boy! And you did a great job keeping those toys in such good array. They look like they are brand new, Pat! Neat!
ReplyDeleteXO,
Sheila :-)
Oh Pat! I love the vintage FP! My Granddaughters play and play with ours. I must have gotten rid of my doctors kit and tool kit. Darn. Your post reminded me the kids used to have those too! These are wonderful memories and my granddaughters adore that their Daddy and their Aunts played with the toys when they were small! Cool post!
ReplyDeleteYou were SO smart to keep these wonderful toys. I had forgotten about the Apple. It made the best sound when rolled, batted, etc. We had several of the ones you saved and now I am sick that I don't still have them for my granddaughter. The toys for sale currently don't look like toys and I can't find any that I like....Good Job Pat!
ReplyDeleteAND your grandson is precious!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure Leo will have a great time playing with those toys! Your kids were absolutely good ones, my daughter's toys aren't suitable to be passed down to other children.....

OMG! I had that same Doctor kit!!!! Brings back memories!
ReplyDeleteYes, I did the same thing and those kids do enjoy whipping out those Fisher-Price toys and playing with them when they're at Grandma's and Papa's. If you check out replacement parts on E-bay you know how valuable all those toys are too!! I'd like to be entered on your give-a-way too!! PAM
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is precious, Pat. My grandson, Chase, is 24 now, and I look back with longing at all the fun times we spent together.
ReplyDeleteOH How I Wish I had done this! What could I have been thinking!?
ReplyDeleteIt is great on several levels, to have these precious toys.
Hope I win the teapot!!!
What a blessing a grandson is, and how smart of you to keep all those nice toys. They are timeless and will be like new to him. I will check out second time around. Today is the Tea pot drawing. I hope I signed up.

Oh my Pat, I take a little blog break and little Leo is all grown up and walking around, still adorable as ever. What a wonderful collection of toys too, he is going to love them. hope all is well with you and yours, hugs, Kathy
ReplyDeleteHi Linda
ReplyDeleteThat is Fortitude! :-) For those wondering, the NYPL on 5th Ave has two lions out front... Patience and Fortitude...I blogged about them once...look under my "Midtown Manhattan posts in my labels to read a little aboutthem :-)
Okay, now I feel the need to find my kids heirloomed toys and make sure that are clean, clean and clean! Your little guy is just edible - those cheeks and eyes. Oh my
ReplyDeleteOh, if only I would have saved the girls toys like you so perfectly did. They would have been thrilled with that decision. Yours look like new. Great post and adorable little guy! He is fortunate to have you two as his grandparents.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, Great pictures of your grandson. The first grandchild is just so very special. I raised three sons and my first grand was a GIRL. I thought I was going to eat her alive!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGlad you kept all of those toys. They last forever you know!!!! ha... However, most kids would rather play with the pots and pans in your kitchen than with all of the fancy toys!!!! ha
Hugs,
Betsy
Pat, he is gorgeous. I know you can't wait to get your hands on him.
ReplyDeleteI recognize so many of those toys from when my son was young. My grandson played with them, too.
Oh Pat, I'll bet pulling those little toys out of their crate brought back so many wonderful cherished memories for you. Just think, now you'll get to make new memories with Leo. He is getting so big isn't he?

ReplyDeleteIt is so fun to see your grandchild playing with your kid's toys, right?
I rememebr my son liking my Barbies--and I was saving them for my girls! Haha! Love the Italian Grandma name, you Irish/Italian Grandma you!
OOO, how smart of you to save all these precious treasures. I am just SICK that I didn't save all of my kids toys....bwaaaaaaa...I now have 10 grandkids and 1 little great-grandgirl..

Dear Pat, your grandson is adorable and yes, he is growing up fast. He will be so happy to realize someday that you saved those beautiful toys just for the event of a grandchild. It is amazing that you saved so many toys. You rock as a grandma and grandpa too.
ReplyDeleteLove, Jeanne
I remember those kits and the apple ball that made a chime noise. How wonderful you saved these FP brand toys for your little GS to use when we visits. The baby is getting so big and he is adorable. I hope you get to see him for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteJoyce
Pat, you were brilliant to save the toys. I wish I had saved my daughter's. Your baby has grown so much. He is soooo cute!! Hope you are having a great Christmas season!
ReplyDeletePat, that's a pretty well cared for bunch of toys! They look brand new!
ReplyDeleteYour grandson is too cute! I can see you and your husband having a lot of fun with him around!
Thanks for sharing!
Hugs,
Teresa
Your little Grandson is so precious!!! Thanks for stopping by to visit my blog. Have a wonderful week. Love & blessings from NC
ReplyDeletePat,
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are adorable! He is so cute!!
And the toys are in great shape!
Thanks for linking to 2nd Time Around!
I don't have any saved toys, sadly, other than matchbox cars, legos, and stars wars characters. Yours bring back so many wonderful fond memories of the childhoods of my three sons. Fischer Price certainly does make wonderful, durable toys. Since all three of my sons are at least a quarter of a century old, I haven't even kept up with what's the latest in toys!!!
ReplyDeleteThere are a lot of memories in those pictures for me. Your grandson is precious!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh look at all the toys you saved!! eBay shoppers would be salivating. ;-) I wish my mom had held on to some of my toys (just as she wishes her mom had help on to some of hers! You think she sould have learned. ;-). It is so, SO special that little Leo (or not so little, as the case is!) will be able to play with the same toys his dad did. THAT beats any amount of money you could make on eBay.
ReplyDeleteLeo looks adorable in that photo with the drawers...look at the concentration on his face! I believe I even see a furrowed brow, lol!
Pat, those toys bring back so many memories. My sons had most of the ones you pictured. I gave a few to my mother for the kids to play with at her house. A few years ago she gave me back the pull dog, the pull clown and the radio. My grandchildren play with them now. The dog especially is still a big hit. I saved many of the younger two children's toys and I've gotten them out for the kids as well. They all love Rachel's Fisher Price kitchen set with all the food and dishes. They use the table and chairs that my children's daddy built for them. It is so good to see all the old familiar things being used again.
ReplyDeleteps your little "L" is so cute!
