April Showers

I was walking along Pearl Street in Lower Manhattan recently, on a rainy spring day, and this flower shop made me stop in my tracks, as I knew I had to take a photograph of it.

The cheery line of daffodils dancing in the raindrops was a delight to behold!

People passing by smiled at me as they saw me juggling my umbrella and shopping bags as I snapped photos of the shop.  I think they agreed with me that it was a beautiful scene.

There is just something about a daffodil that makes my heart sing!  Have a happy weekend everyone!

"I have seen the Lady April bringing the daffodils,
Bringing the springing grass and the soft warm April rain."
- John Masefield

I'm joining Claudia at the Dipity Road blog today for her "Friday Finding Beauty" event.

  16. Daffodils have always been one of my Spring favorites Pat, and I'm delighted to see them blooming in Lower Manhattan in spot where you wouldn't expect to be seeing flowers. It is a beautiful scene, and that shop owner has surely brightened the day of many, many people with that display.

  25. How I miss regular seasons! The people who are real natives to living in the Sonoran Desert here never feel like that. But growing up in Idaho and Utah with real seasons and daffodils and all those spring flowers.......I miss it.

I think the April Showers will bring May Mosquitoes..that's what they are saying here..so much standing water!

  32. Bright & beautiful...and so timely. It is daffodil month here in BC...but April 9th is Daffodil Day in support of the Canadian Cancer Society. So we are seeing daffodils everywhere these days. Lovely flowershop!

  33. I would have juggled my umbrella and shopping packages too for this beauty. These photos are outstanding. What a sight to see on a rainy Spring day. Thank you for sharing this scene with us.

  34. Hello Pat, you are right, this is a beautiful photo op. It just makes me smile. We have lots of daffodils here in the mountains. They seem to grow wild. My grandmother loved them and I have a pitcher with daffodils on it that belonged to her. It once had a bowl too but it probably was broken. Without bathrooms they got a lot of use back in the day.
I am picturing you getting that photo, just like any blogger worth her salt would do. LOL.

    Have a wonderful day.
    Hugs, Jeanne

Not only did you take the time to make this memorable for yourself-- but i can imagine when others saw you taking the picture -- for a moment they thought to themselves "yes... these are beautiful."

You helped yourself AND others have a brighter day. Thanks to yummy yellow flowers :)

  41. that is one of my favorite things about New York...all the flowers..daughter lived across the street from a Bodega that always had the most beautiful flowers lined up on the curb...I would always buy her bunches and bunches when ever I visited...I miss that..
She just called as they were leaving the Auto Show...they stayed until they got thrown out...

  44. The other day I was telling myselft I did not like yellow flowers .. all the flowers I usuallt plant on my deck are purple, or blue, or pink .. then a freind said yellow flowers are the first ones to announce spring and warmer days, like the ones in your shots, that are all over the fields in the Sarthe where I have spent the weekend. She's right, yellow is fun!
