For the second year in a row the Le Parker Meridien Hotel, located at 119 West 56th Street in Manhattan, is hosting a free Gingerbread Extravaganza showcase in their lobby atrium. On display from December 1, 2010 until January 9th, 2011, the creations were all created by local bakeries, a food truck and restaurants. The theme chosen this year was "Movies Made in New York." I blogged about last year's wonderfully creative exhibit, which you can see at this link, and I knew I had to see this year's efforts.
Here we see "A Night at the Museum" baked by Soutine Bakery
Notice the dinosaurs on the top floor of the museum!
The iconic Kong holding a gingerbread Fay Wray in his arms on top of the Empire State Building!
I loved the marshmallow man!
It has Tony and Maria dancing on the roof!
Do you remember "Zoltar," the fortune teller machine in the movie?
Such a cute Stuart Little!
"The Sweet Smell of Success" by the Cupcake Cafe
It contained lots of wonderful NYC scenes!
For only $1 visitors can vote on their favorite gingerbread creation, with the proceeds donated to City Harvest, the food rescue organization dedicated to feeding the city's hungry men, women and children. In addition to spreading holiday cheer, if you buy a ticket to vote, your generosity is rewarded with a chance to win a 5 night stay at the luxurious Parker Palm Springs to be determined by a random drawing!
Which NYC movie location gingerbread
creation would you vote for?
As New Year's Eve approaches I'd like to thank all of my blog readers and followers for your friendship and support! I can't believe I will be entering my fourth year of blogging! It has been very fulfilling to me to be able to take you along on my jaunts around the boroughs of New York City and the other places I've traveled in the past few years. Blogging has enriched my life very much, both through the research I do for my blog and by reading all of your wonderful blogs. I look forward to a new year and I wish you all a very happy, healthy and peaceful 2011!
I'm adding this post to Michael's blog Designs by Gollum "Foodie Friday," Sandi of The Whistlestop Cafe Cooking "Friday Favorites Linky Party, Cindy of My Romantic Home "Show and Tell Friday," Laurie of Bargain Hunting and Chatting with Laurie for A Few of my Favorite Things-Saturday, and Beverly of How Sweet the Sound for Pink Sunday! Thank you to all the gracious hostesses of these events for allowing us to share in all the fun!
What creative bakers! King Kong is my favorite. You're reminding me that I haven't been to see the annual gingerbread competition at Peddler's Village, Pa.- not too far from me.
ReplyDeleteStuart Little! He's adorable and that's the one I'd vote for. You don't suppose it's the fact that I'm just fresh from an afternoon of sledding and watching Charlotte's Web, do you?
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that you blog. I can NOT imagine Blogland without Mille Fiori Favoriti in it.
These are all just wonderful!! I've been clicking on several to see the details. I love the lifesaver made into a Christmas wreath on the Stusrt Little scene. Finding your blog was indeed a high point of my computer fun this year, a delicious joy to the eyes! Hope you have a wonderful New Year!!

ReplyDeleteI loved the King Kong creation....they were all wonderful. After trying to help the Grand Girl decorate a gingerbread house in Oct. (it was a kit with a HWeen theme) I realized my cake decorating skills were very rough. I can't imagine creating the masterpieces those bakers did!

ReplyDeleteIts hard to choose which one to vote for. Everything was cute and what craftmenship or bakership.Thank you for sharing the trip with us.
ReplyDeleteWest Side Story would be my choice.
ReplyDeleteBecause my husband loved West Side Story, some of the music was featured at our wedding in 1969. For a wedding present he gave me a custom made charm with one hand on one side of the disc and one heart on the other side. I wore it on a bracelet that was my great-grandmother's when she married one hundred years earlier in 1869.
You've brought back wonderful memories. Happy new year Pat.
Sam
