I'm 59!
No, I didn't celebrate a birthday recently, but I am happy to "shout out my age" and be proud of it! Olay is proudly turning 60 years old this year and asked bloggers if they were also daring enough to shout out their age to the world. I recently changed my social media profile picture to this photo, as I feel it shows I'm truly happy to be the age I am. I am excited to be alive and on the cusp of a new decade and I look forward to the next chapter of my life. If you are a frequent reader of my blog, you know that my husband and I are planning to move to Colorado in a few months, to live closer to our children and grandchildren. I will also take on the role of caring for my daughter's expected baby girl during the day while she is at work. I know I will be busy, but happy, and that there will be many new experiences to look forward to.
This life long New York City resident will soon go on the adventure of moving cross country to live in a former ranch community that is over a mile high!
I will be exchanging my urban lifestyle and views from Brooklyn of the Manhattan skyline....
...for a suburban lifestyle and views of Colorado's beautiful, and rustic, front range.
I know it will be worth change to be close to my grandchildren! Seeing them grow up, and being more of a part of their lives is on top of my happy "bucket list." I'm sure they will keep me young and active!
Also, the American West is a beautiful area of our country and my husband and I look forward to exploring more of it and enjoying different opportunities in our new community. As part of our bucket lists, we hope to drive to many Western states that we have yet to see and visit more National Parks. We hope to remain active by hiking, horseback riding, bicycling and getting involved with winter activities in our new neighborhood.
Congratulations, Olay, on your 60th anniversary! I'm glad you encouraged us to embrace our age and take care of our skin as we also stay active and full plans for the future.
Are you daring enough to shout your age to the world? What is on your "bucket list'?

Good Morning Pat, I remember saying to my mother, Phyllis, "oh dear I'm 60 this year" and Phyllis replied, "your just a baby, I'm 82 years and I never let age get in my way so don't waste time worrying about getting older. 60 is just a number, it's what you do which important... and you know she is right..... and look at what you are doing, your on the cusp of a new and exciting adventure. To be close to your family is wonderful, to share in their lives and to really know your grandchildren is the most precious thing. Enjoy! Best Wishes Daphne
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, you are beautiful. Maybe I should be using my Olay a lot more often. I know you are looking forward to the move to Colorado. I am really excited and happy for you. And visiting the parks out west will be lots of fun. Great post and have a happy week ahead.
ReplyDeleteOh, Pat. I envy your getting to move closer to your sweet grands!! It is going to be a big change for you and your husband... I think it will be wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI'm 56, and getting used to it! ;) blessings ~ tanna
Happy Birthday, Pat!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday to Olay (some of my favorite products). I want to see the temples and gardens in Kyoto (bucket list). Closer to home -- tulip and lavender fields in the Pacific NW! The Hyde Park area of NY -- one of my favorite places. Gorgeous shots. (I'm catching up)
ReplyDeleteGood morning Pat! Your picture is just lovely and I've look fabulous at 59! I celebrated a big birthday this year and just feel fine at my age and happy to be alive. I'd like to be more active though. My bucket list is to travel more and soon I'll be doing that. Keep smiling Pat and keep using Oil of Olay. i'd really recommend it to everyone. I had malignant melanoma many years ago and have to be very careful as well! I 'm not eligible to enter the contest but do hope it your encouragement will remind other Bloggers how important it is to take care of one's skin!
ReplyDeleteHi Pat! Happy 59th birthday to you! I think you look wonderful and have a beautiful complexion and you have a great outlook on life. I know you are going to have a wonderful new life in Colorado soon. I am 62 and enjoying my life and am happy to be healthy and active. My bucket list would be to visit my grandchildren across the country as much as possible. Maybe we need to move to them like you are doing! I'll be in NYC this weekend. It's finally here. ;) Blessings to you! Pamela P.S. I am not eligible to enter the contest. Canadian eh? LOL
ReplyDeleteI will be 59 on Thanksgiving day! On my bucket list is going back to Italy next year and spending at least a month there...fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteGood morning, and congratulations on embarking on a fabulous new adventure - what a wonderful and exciting time this must be for you. Happy to be back reading some of my favorite bloggers. xxoo
ReplyDeleteI'll pop in to wish you a happy birthday!
ReplyDeleteI have tried to live my life with that bucket dripping a bit every year. It is filled with more trips to Italy, and time with family and friends!
ReplyDeleteTHANKS, EVERYONE, BUT IT IS NOT MY BIRTHDAY TODAY!!! lol!!
This is an ad campaign for "SHOUT YOUR AGE" by Olay products!! I am mearly being proud to say I am 59 and proud of it! WOOT!
I have a half birthday next month in fact where I will be 59 1/2.
:)
You are a beautiful 59 year old woman. I am 59 also.
ReplyDeleteAnd that is so wonderful that you are making the move cross country. And to be close to those grands.
Now your daughter who got married this summer - where does she live?
Good luck.
Sandie
Hi Pat - just realized I made a big mistake...meant to say "You look fabulous" - my brain is scattered this morning...I got up too early I think!
ReplyDeleteA perfectly marvelous trade-off if you ask me! I love Oil of Olay, have used it for years, consider it a facelift in a bottle inasmuch as that is possible. =)
ReplyDeleteAnd, my dear, you do look mahvelous!
Glory you are looking GRAND! I'm 23 going on 54. I don't wear make-up and I often forget about using sunscreen. OY! You will find that your skin care needs will change with the dryer climate out there. Our daughter has to run a humidifier and is still working on new skin moisturizer methods. I can hardly wait for your shared adventures in a new region of the country. You are a glorious tour guide.
ReplyDeleteGood morning my friend! You look mahvelous!!! I am 52 and proud of it!!!
ReplyDeleteI shipped your scarf out on Friday. You should be receiving it any time.
Hugs,
Kris
PS I did not know you were going to be taking care of your new granddaughter!!!!! You know, I do that!!! Keeps us young!!!
I am 43 and proud of it! Just want to see my kids grow up!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your move to Colorado. It may be a bit less rustic than you think if you're near Denver, as Denver is a modern, cosmopolitan city (even though the Stock Show is still a big deal). Even here in Colorado Springs we have a philharmonic orchestra. But it won't be NYC!
ReplyDeleteWow -you look far younger than 59! Love the shots of Colorado!
ReplyDeleteYou look Maaavelous!
ReplyDeleteReading your posts on your exciting move to Colorado almost makes me wish my girls would move away so that I could do the same! It will be the the adventure of a lifetime and I will be happy to read about it here:)
You do not have ONE wrinkle on your face, Pat. Not one! It's not fair. How's this... I'm something like a younger than you! I knew we were friends for a reason. LOL
ReplyDeleteI look forward to following along to Colorado. My sister has moved out there to be near her kids and enjoys it.
XO,
Sheila
Wow, lots of changes coming up for you. The photos you show of where you are going are fantastic, and begin so close to your family will make it even more so. You look fantastic at age 59. I've never used Oil of Olay consistently and when I got older and wanted to use it, it no longer had the wonderful smell I remember in the days when my mother used it. Too bad. I just can't get used to it.
ReplyDelete59 and lovely as ever. Wishing you and those you love much blessings and good health.
ReplyDeleteOh my!!!! You're going to start a new life .... good luck...and you are going to start in the better period of your life..... I'm going to read about this new adventure, hugs and blessings, Flavia
ReplyDeleteYou absolutely look a lot younger Pat and your skin looks beautiful. I wish I was your aga again as I am 74 . But let me say a young one. LOL. I do feel a lot younger so the numbers don't say anything.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, I am so happy for you. You obviously have made a tremendous decision in your life... I know you will LOVE it--not only the kids/grands, but just being out there where you can explore!!!!!! Maybe we'll get to meet you the next time we head that direction....
ReplyDeleteI'm 70 and proud of it.
Hugs,
Betsy
HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! You are sooooo 59 going on 21!! Yay!! Take care

Me? I'm a proud 62 1/2!
ReplyDeleteWhat's on my bucket list? At least one more trip with my honey to Europe. I would like to visit Indonesia again, the places where I used to live. I want to be healthy and active until my late 90s (: and watch my (theoretical) grandchildren graduate from college. Oh, and have a little home with a garden.

First of all, Pat, your skin, face, and spirit look 35 years young! Happy birthday to you and anniversary to Olay, a truly great product. I know that you will Colorado! Growing up in the Midwest, it was my favorite place to vacation, honeymoon, and still vacation to this day! Enjoy your family and new beautiful location!
ReplyDeleteCiao,
Roz
Oil of Olay has been wonderful to you...you are beautiful! I am 50 years old plus 16. Ha! On my bucket list is a return trip out west. I love that part of the country, the scenery is outstanding! Lucky grands to have you and your hubby moving to be near them!
ReplyDeleteI can hear that you are on the cusp of an exciting era in your life. We had lots of adventures between 60 and 70 and we still haven't emptied the bucket.
ReplyDeletePat - What a great adventure you're going to have living in Colorado and helping your children. I can hardly wait to read your posts about all the sights you'll be visiting. I need to go get some of that cream you've been using. It sure works for you!
ReplyDeleteI am shouting out 55! Although my granddaughter keeps swearing I am 57! She is too funny.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to the west! You will love Colorado, but I am sure you will crave visits to NY like we do. You will also need lots and lots of Olay because it is so dry here in the west. I go east and I don't even need to use lotion. Here in Utah, I am like a rattlesnake - scaly everywhere!
There is nothing like being close to the grands. You will love it and they do keep you young and flexible!
On my bucket list is to travel more often :)

Great post, Pat and you look terrific! We're only as old as we feel and act :) I'm sure you will miss New York and everything it has to offer for a much different, but rewarding, lifestyle. I adore Colorado!
ReplyDeleteGreat photo! That Olay will surely come in handy for staving off any high altitude effects. I'm so excited for you and all the changes to come. And I'm excited about your move because it means you and I will likely meet in the not too distant future! :-D Cheers for being vibrant, healthy and happy, regardless of age!
ReplyDeletefirst your skin looks beautiful and you look fabulous for 59....I am 62 and have that great non-wrinkle gene from the folks..my mother died at 87 without a wrinkle on her face....she actually used Oil of Olay...I use Kiehl's every single day morning and night...
ReplyDeleteI cannot believe "Miss NYC" is leaving NY...I will miss your city tours but I'm so happy you are moving to be by the Grands....and ofcourse your pictures of Colorado look a heck of a lot better then the pictures coming out of NY.....We were suppose to retire back to the North to be near our daughter and grandaughter and I still feel awful that we decided to stay in Georgia...I felt like we abandoned the two of them...Until the storm hit because we had a house all picked out to buy last year........on Long Beach Island, New Jersey.....God works in wonderful ways...
Hi Pat, a belated Happy Birthday to you, I am 59 and turn 60 next August - I know you are going to love Colorado, being a lifelong New Yorker is something to be proud of, yet change is good, I moved to San Diego when I was 26, you have so much to look forward to with your grandchildren...enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHappy Birthday Pat! You are lovely! One of my bosses in Red Bank,New Jersey was close to 80, she introduced me to Olay in the late 1960`s. Her skin was beautiful. My favorite is Olay Complete with sun screen. I have no problems with our dry desert air and intense sun.
ReplyDeleteBEAUTIFUL at 59, Pat! I've not used Olay products in a while, as we don't have them here. I've been using the L'Oreal RevitaLift range for a year now. I'll be 40 next month, and I've really noticed this year how my skin is starting to change. Whoops, maybe I shouldn't have put L'Oreal in there... LOL! ;o) Such wonderful news about your move in January--so excited for you & your family. We're traveling to the US next week to celebrate Thanksgiving with my family for a few days--can't wait! Happy Thanksgiving to you & yours! Catch up with you soon... ((HUGS))
ReplyDeleteYou are looking good at 59, my friend. I'm 60...and not hiding it. I've used Olay Complete moisturizer for years.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am happy to announce that I am 72 years old! Will be 73 in the spring. I remember my mother at this age, and she seemed to be older than I feel!
ReplyDeleteI know you will have fun being near to your grandchildren.

Hi Pat, Hmmm...I'm thinking I should have been using Olay all these years--you look fantastic! I recently turned 56 and I was born in '56, so this should be an important year for me! Our bucket list includes traveling around the country in an RV (I know, no one believes me but it's true) and we talk about it every time we are on the road. I guess it sounds so carefree and relatively free of material concerns, so a different life from our present one. Happy Thanksgiving! Linda
ReplyDeleteI don't mind shouting out my age--I feel I earned every year and am proud of it!!! I'd love to visit every state in the U.S. Thanks for a chance to win and have a great day!
