Take a walk with me along a path under an arbor dripping with autumn colors in the Denver Botanic Garden. I was here in late October to visit the spectacular Chihuly Glass Exhibit that is closing at the end of November--click here to read that blog post-- but now I'd like to show you the other beautiful ways the garden looked on my visit.

Every path leads to new views of these mini gardens within the Denver Botanical Garden in every season, but the reds, golds, and oranges of autumn gave them all a special glow.
There are botanical delights to see everywhere...
...including the sighting of a female Downy Woodpecker in a tree!
Fall is certainly a beautiful time to visit the garden.....
...as there are also many flowers still in bloom!
Here is a small selection of flowers I photographed on my visit.
We also visited the Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory within the Denver Botanical Garden, where cacti and succulents were displayed outside, while inside...
....the climate and moisture were equal to a day in a tropical rainforest,
There were a few Chihuly glass displays in the conservatory, but the real stars here were...
.
....the phenomenal lush and exotic tropical trees and plants that lined the paths and draped over the walkways from vines.
The orchids and bromeliads that are in bloom this time of the year were delicate treasures for the eye to behold!
The Denver Botanic Garden is located at 1007 York Street, in Denver, Colorado, just 10 minutes from the downtown area.
If you are a reader in the US, you probably know from weather reports this week that our area in Colorado welcomed its first "Arctic Blast"! We had a couple inches of snow and a few days of record-breaking cold temperatures. Even the community horses had to wear coats! I was thankful for a warm home, and the precious sight of watching my little granddaughter sit and watch the snowfall. She is saying many words now, and it was fun to see and hear her reaction to the snow.

ReplyDeleteI am not ready for the "artic blast" but I have no control over it. Our temps are at the freezing mark at night too. Daytime warms considerably. It is time for the new season.

Oh yes...not only do I need to go back to Colorado in the fall for the mountain views! But the Botanical Gardens is amazing in the Autumn as well! We never made it there, even when we lived there those six months after our daughter was born, or when we got back to visit when she was 6. So, a visit is in order. Great photos! Glad you got to see the woodpecker also. Really amazing flowers and plant display and I love the fall color!

I am a fan of Chihuly and I know he's been featured here in the Phoenix Botanical Gardens but I liked your comment about the real stars of the garden. . .somehow his works always seem to pale in comparison to the stunning plants in these gardens. A fun tour!

I will be in Denver next fall and will definitely visit these gardens...stunning...we also got the Vortex hit here in central NY with 8 inches of snow ...snow all week forecasted and frigid temps still in the 20s.

ReplyDeleteSo you have me missing autumn and it's not winter yet. The photos are so lovely - do adore visiting gardens. We try to do so on all road trips. We had flowers until the first early snowfall also. The next time we are in Denver, we shall have to check out the gardens.

ReplyDeleteI visited Colorado four years ago and it was lovely. We visited Leadville (the altitude killed me), Eagle, and Aspen, but the closest we got to downtown Denver was the airport. Colorado was beautiful, and so are your photos!
