One week we are enjoying warm weather in the 70's, with trees blossoming...
....grass growing....
...and flowers blooming.
My grandchildren were able to go to the playground in short sleeves.
This past weekend the temperatures dipped below freezing...
...and we had snow and sleet showers for three straight days.
Happily, the roads and walkways stayed clear, but the grass and hills collected snow.
The silvery aspen trees will have to wait a little longer to grow leaves, but the creek reminded me that all moisture is a treasure for this high dry state, especially snow in spring!
So while I may yearn to look at flowers, I would not trade this view of the wilderness for them. The mountains make my spirits soar!
Look up! One plane headed east, one plane headed west. My three year old granddaughter called them "shooting stars" when she saw them. Maybe they are really wishing stars? What do you wish for this spring?

ReplyDeleteIt's all beautiful!! Especially your sweet grandchildren enjoying spring in the park.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Bonnie
Hey Pat, long-time-no-blogging!!! Great to see your beautiful photos and read your wonderful blog, again.
ReplyDeleteWeather is so crazy lately....
ReplyDeleteApril here is like that too!
ReplyDeleteyour grand kids are really so adorable ,pics are gorgeous you shared your climate wonderfully dear
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! I miss spring in Colorado! We had the great joy of living in Evergreen off Rte 70 for 6 months and I loved every minute of it! Spring weather sure was interesting though - sometimes I felt like my children and I would wear three different outfits each day because the weather changed so fast!
ReplyDeleteI heard you had lost of snow around Denver a week or so ago, but happy you are seeing the signs of spring and better weather.
ReplyDeleteWhat contrasting photos! But all beautiful. Heard about your snow, but glad it didn't clog up the roads, etc.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous Spring in Colorado. You all have the BEST of all worlds and temperatures... I remember the first time we headed to RMNP---it was JUNE and there was TONS of snow on the top of the mountain... For us, it was culture shock since we had just traveled from The Arches --where it was 95 degrees and miserably hot... ha ha
ReplyDeleteI posted some of our early spring colors today.
Hugs,
Betsy
Weather most unpredictable this year. No matter the season where you live, it is always beautiful. To me the prettiest state.
ReplyDeleteMy wish is for some temperate spring weather! We have yet to see 70°. Glad that you maintain perspective. My NYC niece had a biking accident in Colorado last week and broke her collarbone ending her cross-country trip early. She was very upset because Colorado is so beautiful. (Personally, I hope that it cures her of cross-country bike trips.) Here's to more flowers, blue skies, and average spring temps!
ReplyDeleteI love Colorado and your photos are just beautiful! The snow is crazy! One of my Texas friends lives there and loves it, however, she thought this last snow was a little over the top for this time of year!
ReplyDeleteAmazing how your plants adapt and relish in the changes so abrupt....here snow and freezes kill the blossoms on the trees, but we are not used to it. I wish for a more stable spring with god rainfall amounts and warm breezes.
ReplyDeleteBe still my heart! I could live there in a heartbeat, it's truly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful day in your slice of heaven!
Nancy
The weather sure is crazy but it looks beautiful where you live whether there are flowers or snowflakes.
ReplyDeleteI wish for the health and time and energy to see all I can see of God's wonderous world.
ReplyDeleteWe are having such unpredictable weather as well! It was very cold last week though the forecast for the coming days is a lot better :)
ReplyDeleteLovely photos!
And we are finally enjoing spring after many cold days
ReplyDeleteI'm sitting on a deck in Carlsbad enjoying your "spring" photos of my home state. I've heard from friends that it snowed for 3 days in Breckenridge. Right now, it's fun to visit the beach. I'm hoping more will melt by the time we head home in 2 weeks.
ReplyDeleteLovely post and photos....thank you....interesting weather!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your week!
Beautiful photos! I am glad spring is there for you! My niece lives just outside of Denver so I have been following the weather out there.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing at http://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2016/05/snorkeling-on-saint-thomas.html
Spring one minute then winter the next
ReplyDeleteYou've certainly had a mix of weather lately but that snow is much needed I'm sure. We are still waiting for warm days here and also much needed rain.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean - the view of the mountains is addictive!! Love your snowy photos, but also nice to know that the grand kids can play without getting cold:):) I don't mind snow, but sleet - oh no!
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for being a part of SEASONS with the ups and downs of the weather in your neighborhood:) Have a happy week, Pat!
I heard Colorado got a late spring snowstorm. Wow - crazy but not unheard of in that part of the country (I remember an early May snowstorm when I lived in South Dakota)
ReplyDeleteI think we got more snow than you did up north. One thing I noticed was that the flowering trees here did not freeze. In fact, the blossoms seemed to have richer colors from the cooler weather and the moisture.
ReplyDeleteCrazy weather for sure. Are you the one who called the weather in Colorado bi-polar?
ReplyDeleteWeather all around the world is so strange. Too late for snow showers! Stay warm!
ReplyDeleteGorgoeus spring scenes!
ReplyDeleteI like to see patches of snow here and there while they are melting because of the changing seasons. That photo of the river is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHi Pat, Long day today. We are involved with Senior games and my husband is also the official photographer for all the events. It is a three week event with many sports going on. Great fun but not much time for anything else.
ReplyDeleteLove your spring/winter post. Your photos are wonderful to see. We too "love" everything Colorado has to offer. The best thing is...you get to live it! Love the pic of your little grands on the slide.
Hugs,
Jeanne
Beautiful shots of the place.
ReplyDeleteFabulous shots of spring and the mountains!
ReplyDeleteLove to see your grandchildren out playing and making memories in this beautiful area you live in...Michelle
ReplyDeleteSpring where you are is......changeable! I loved this post, Pat. I'm glad to read that you are so happy with your choice of Colorado. I always feel a certain connection - with daughters married the same year, grandchildren born the same year and both of us with houses for sale those years ago. I hope that spring brings you every bit as much pleasure as the winter has brought. It is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove those yellow and orange tulips. Somehow they don't go with snow.
ReplyDeleteYour scenes are mesmerizing, i love those mountains and hillsides. I haven't seen any of them in person. I pity the flowers and new growths that they are suddenly suffering from snow again. And as you enjoy the relief from freezing temperatures we are suffering from extreme heat, example is a Heat Index of 40°C, we can't stay outdoors anymore. And i am more mesmerized at the extent of memes you have linked with...that's a lot!
ReplyDeleteHello Pat, lovely post with beautiful grandchildren, colorful flowers and the snow covered mountains. Sounds great to me! Wonderful photos! Enjoy your day and the week ahead!
ReplyDeleteAll beautiful shots ~ love your grand children and the horses!
ReplyDeleteHappy Week to you ~ ^_^
Brrrr, it looks still quite chilly there! I'm up for the warmth after a winter in the UK ... #BlueMonday www.travelbug.co
ReplyDeleteWhat a difference a few days can make. I think many of us are experiencing strange weather at the moment
ReplyDeletePat, your contrasting photos are beautiful. I imagine the freezing temperatures zapped the lovely blossoms. Our freeze killed our wisteria and early blooming azalea blossoms.
ReplyDeleteYour snow covered mountains are breathtakingly gorgeous! How lovely and calming to the spirit they are.
Your grands look like they are really enjoying their day in the park. My 11 and 12 old grands still love to go to the park! It's so good for them.
Have a wonderful week. ♥
When we're driving on the way back to Oregon, the first mountains we see are as we hit Colorado. The sight of them always makes me so happy. I really don't wake up every morning here in Florida being sad because we don't see mountains, but as soon we drive into Colorado I realize how much I have missed them. Next month -- if all goes as planned -- I will experience that again (but I must add that I hope the only snow we see is on those distant mountains, not on the ground).
ReplyDeleteYes, Colorado has had a wild ride this Spring. Hopefully no more snow!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Isn't Colorado springtime awesome?
ReplyDeleteWe've had those crazy weather swings this spring too. Luckily, we've stayed above freezing. I love your spring images!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of your part of the world in this very strange spring. In the UK, too, there has been warm weather followed by snow - but not in the south where I live. Unlike you, we don't need the precipitation!
ReplyDeleteCrazy weather! But all beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThere has definitely been some crazy weather across the board. Lovely photos of both beautiful Spring and of course, the snow that came in Spring.
ReplyDeleteHello. I found you on Grandma Briefs. So glad I did, your photos are beautiful. I love the Colorado Mountains. You have a new follower.
ReplyDeleteSun, snow, happy children and such lovely photos. A great post.

This is so pretty both in the springy weather and in the snow. Don't you always wonder about cows and horses when it snows? Brr! I just want to give them a blanket but I guess they don't mind. I know you enjoyed your grandkids. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful spring shots.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and colorful blooms. Kids are having great time.
ReplyDeleteColorado is such a pretty state. Not really two parts alike either, most all is different. Our ex-neighbor has a 'ranch' outside Telluride. Your mountains look like some of his mountains?
ReplyDelete..
Oh, the fickle weather of spring! Gorgeous shots.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos!
ReplyDeleteYou make springtime look most lovely in your part of the world! Beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful place! I love the snow covered mountains, what a gorgeous view you have.
ReplyDeleteThat sure is changeable weather. As you say it is still beautiful. Spring is a long way off for us but at the moment we have perfect weather. Blue skies, sunshine and moderate temperatures. No need for sweaters or air-conditioning. I do wish for more rain though just like Colorado.
ReplyDeleteYou sure have a pretty view and that sky is so blue!
ReplyDeleteHello Pat, I wanted to stop back and say thank you for linking up your post. The horses are beautiful, great critter photos. Happy Mother's Day weekend to you!
ReplyDeleteMuch like CO I had forgotten how quickly spring hits us. Although I miss the color of spring I would not change the fact that we moved back to SD. Isn't the warm pine needle smell the best, you can't get that where there is a ton of color.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos Millie

ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing this at Thoughts of Home on Thursday.

I enjoyed seeing the snow capped mountains. We didn't make it up to the mountains for skiing this year and I really missed the gorgeous views.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing with SYC.
Just like here in Norway, but this week we`ve had that summer feeling :)
ReplyDeleteLovely pictures :)
Lovely shots!Colorado weather is not for those with a routine season in mind. We can go from frigid temps to smoking hot summer days. It is hard to remember when we had a beautiful full Spring season! But there is no where else I would like to live. It is always good to visit you here and I hope your week will be a great one along with your weekend too.
