Denver, Colorado

My son and daughter-in-law live in Denver, Colorado. They were married over four years ago and moved to Colorado when my son decided to get his graduate degree at the University of Colorado at Boulder. They lived in Boulder for two years before they decided they missed living in a large city and moved to Denver. My son has completed his degree, but they decided to stay and make their home there.

The bison is the mascot symbol for U 0f C at Boulder teams, and here he is being moved into place in the football stadium on graduation day:

This is downtown Denver... now called "LoDo," which has become a very chic revitalized area.

I love to visit Denver and stroll around the different neighborhoods -- some of them remind me of Brooklyn!

But, of course, I don't have this view of the Rocky Mountains:

Here are the happy couple and their "baby," a Pomeranian pup named Maurizio.

I love them and miss seeing them all the time, but I'm happy they are happy and have made the west their new home! Children grow up and move on, but they are always a part of our hearts. Bookmark and Share

  2. Oh, your post made me so homesick. We lived in Denver for 14 years and built a cabin in the mountains in Grand Lake. We moved 25 years ago but kept our cabin and now spend summers there. I was born elsewhere but most of our family call Colorado "home". It is indeed a wonderful city.

  3. I also love Denver. My sister used to live in Colorado Springs and I loved to go visit CO. She moved back here to CA which I'm thrilled about but I do miss my trips to CO.

I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day.

    Chat with you soon.

  5. I am sure you miss your son very much but what a great place to spend holidays, I love how these cities are split into neighbourhoods. He looks very happy with his wife and 'baby' and Denver really does look like a great place to live with so much to see and do. x

  6. What a beautiful city Denver is!

You do know that a grandpuppy is the first step toward grandchildren, right? Oh yes! I have a grandpuggy and, believe me, he reminded me often this weekend that he was my first grandson. LOL!

  7. Hi Pat!
Denver looks so beautiful! I know you must miss them so much. A mom wants her children close but loves them enough to let them go to where they want their life to be. But what a lovely place you have to go to visit them!
    Hugs, Sherry

  8. 'Maurizio'! I have a Net friend by that name. -giggles- I should tell him that there is a doggie in Denver, named the same as he is!

Seems your son and daughter-in-law have moved to a beautiful area. You have to be happy for them, of course.

  9. What a lovely post and I'm so glad they are happy in their life there. My daughter and her husband just moved to Vail and tell me they're thoroughly enjoying it. Soon I'll go to visit them and learn more about their new area, too.

  15. awwwww.....what a sweet family! The pup looks like a sweetie.

It is hard having your children far away. I am lucky to have my daughter here in PA near me...but my baby son (24) is in Texas. I miss seeing his handsome face. :-(

  21. You have a wonderful blog! I was searching for a blog about Ireland, County Meath in particular, and landed in your flower bed. My husband is from Brooklyn; I happily read some of those posts! Eventually I followed your Colorado tag, well, because I'm from Colorado! I am part owner of a B&B south of Denver should you ever have time to explore other areas of that beautiful, mountain state! Happy February to you!
