What do you think of when you think of Beverly Hills California? I know the place I wanted to see when I recently visited Los Angeles was the famous shopping street called Rodeo Drive. Spanning only three blocks, it is the epicenter of luxury and contains over 100 world-renowned boutiques and hotels.

I certainly had a good time strolling up and down Rodeo Drive, admiring the beautiful fashions and accessories on display in all the stores.
What would luxury be without fabulous glittery jewelry stores? No surprise, there was a Rolls Royce parked outside one of them.
Of course, I couldn't resist taking some photos of the luxury cars on the street, and the K-9 police dog unit who were on guard.
Located at the famous intersection of Rodeo Drive and Wilshire Boulevard stands the landmark Beverly Wilshire, and Four Seasons Hotel. The Beverly Wilshire was one of the filming locations for the 1990 movie "Pretty Woman," A long list of celebrities, artists, musicians, and heads of state have stayed in its elegant rooms.
The Beverly Wilshire website states: "In the heart of Beverly Hills – steps from renowned Rodeo Drive shops – this historic hotel buzzes with vitality from dramatic renovations, blending tradition and trend. See-and-be-seen dining and glamorous events are balanced by quiet, personal comfort in the spa, the pool, and luxury guest rooms."
The Rodeo Collection Shopping Mall is located in the epicenter of Rodeo Drive and is an eclectic mix of fashion houses, restaurants, health and beauty providers, and not surprisingly many offices cosmetic surgeons, and cosmetic medical centers. Its pretty courtyard was full of lush greenery and scarlet pink bougainvillea.

Now on to announce my giveaway winner.....
While I was in Beverly Hills I was lucky enough to meet celebrity chef Rocco DiSpirito and he autographed a copy of his new cookbook " Now Eat This" for a lucky winner on my blog.
Number 63 was picked by the Random Number Generator....and the winner with that number is...
The Quintessential Magpie! Congratulations, Sheila, I know you will enjoy this cookbook. Please send me your full name and address and the cookbook will be on its way to you!
Thank you to everyone who entered the give away. I'll be giving away another author-signed book in the near future, of someone I've been a "friend" of for a very long time!
Congrats to that lucky lady! You look like you had a fabulous trip! Anne
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your winner.
ReplyDeletePat, you take the best photos! They could be in magazines. Oh wait! They were!
I'm so happy you had a great time. Didn't you love how Prada didn't have the name outside the store. They say, if you are in the crowd that can afford Prada, you KNOW where the store is.
So did you buy anything on your shopping trip?
Hugs,
Joanne
Well, did you buy anything in the shoppers' heaven????
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed the visit to Rodeo Drive. I have been there a few times but I honestly am not crazy about Los Angeles. I go mainly to visit a good nursing friend who lives in the Los Feliz area but I have never really preferred L. A. to San Francisco and, if Jeannie weren't there, I would rarely go down.
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Sheila, and thanks for sharing the pics, it sure looks like a fun trip!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your winner.
ReplyDeleteRodeo Drive seems 'other worldly' to me!
Well, if it couldn't be me, I'm SO happy that Sheila won!! A lovely lady!!
ReplyDeletePat, as always, your pictures are just amazing. Having spent a lot of time in LA some years back, they bring back some memories
xoxo Pattie
Congrats to Sheila! Couldn't have gone to a nicer gal :) Love your photos, what an amazing place. And the courtyard pictures are gorgeous, such beautiful bougainvilleas. Kathy
ReplyDeletePat, Rodeo Drive and Beverly Hills are beyond fabulous. I've never been to California, but look out out of this world gorgeous (and rich).
ReplyDeleteI'm with Joan - did you buy anything? Perhaps some fancy shoes or a bag? My husband would have had to take my credit cards away from me (and believe me, he would have) if I was let loose on Rodeo Drive.
When we stroll down Worth Avenue in Palm Beach he holds my hand. Hmm, I think there's a meaning to his madness here somewhere. He keeps pointing out the cars. I wonder why? BTY, I'll show him your pictures. He'll love them.
Congratulations to Sheila. She's one lucky gal with a book signed by Rocco.
Wow - what a stunning place. There must have been so much to see!
ReplyDeleteCongrats Sheila!
:)

I've "shopped" on Rodeo Drive but never bought anything :-) It was a fun experience though because there's nothing like Southern California (and Brooklyn of course).
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great post! I sure enjoyed your trip to this posh place. Did you bring home a Rolls Royce as a souvenir?
ReplyDeleteThat was great, Pat. Amazing to be in those places I have only heard about.
ReplyDelete(but I wouldn't be happy with the prices on Rodeo for sure...no outlets! )
Congrats to S, she is a great gal!

Lucky winner and great mosaics...oh how I wish I was there. I once went out there with my husband and had the flu and spent the entire trip in the hotel room. Maybe one day I can go back and see all these wonderful streets and maybe a movie star or two!

Oh Pat Rodeo Drive, I think that would be heaven for me to just look around and look at all the windows. Wow, you as a NewYorker must be used to beautiful windows but in this country we don't have so many of those around here. I would be like a kid in a sweets shop. hihi. Dreaming.....Great pictures and mosaics.
ReplyDeleteLove this tour so much!...it's probably the only way I will ever get to see Rodeo Drive and I think I enjoyed it almost as much as being there:)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to the winner! Oh, I would love to take that drive down Rodeo Drive with you! How fabulous! Makes me want to watch Pretty Woman! heehee! I'm enjoying the photos of your trip! ♥

ReplyDeleteHmmmm...what do I think of Rodeo Drive. It's fascinating and certainly in a world of its own.
it does look like you had a fun trip......did you see any other celebrities? Melinda
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to pop over to my blog for a Coco Chanel giveaway necklace. It is a fun piece! You are so lucky to have won this trip..nice to see good people winning these contests!!
ReplyDeleteHello, Pat, I want to thank you for your sweet comment on my post. I had fun with it and laughed at myself in that outfit. Your compliment does make me smile. My daughter loved seeing the photo. She lives in Florida so there are lots of photos she has never seen.
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful your post is of Beverly Hills. I have never been in that part of California. I do have a lifelong friend who lives in LA. She keeps begging me to come and visit. One day!
I know you are loving talking to your little grandson. This is the beginning of the most wonderful connection to him through speech. When they began to talk it is so adorable. My memories of my grands is so strong at the time they began to talk. I may forget lots of other experiences but not their learning to talk years. It makes me smile thinking of those years right now. One that is so cute is when my grandson about 2 years told me, "I need a corn grandma." It was Halloween and I was babysitting. I did not know what he meant. He pulled a chair over to the counter and showed me a bowl of candy corn, after repeatedly asking me the same thing over and over. I have teased him about that many times. He is fifteen now.
I better close this. I am way too wordy. Just ask Beverly. HA!
Have a safe trip home Pat.
Hugs, Jeanne
Pat, this must have been like a dream come trip. What a fabulous opportunity for you, and I can't think of anyone more deserving.
ReplyDeleteI know you loved every second. Happy Pink Saturday.
Awesome Beverly Hills tour. Lovely sights to see. ;-)
ReplyDeleteRocco is very nice. When I had my surgery and was recuperating, one of my blogger friends asked him to send me a get-well message, which he gladly did. So nice! I have the photo on my food blog. ;-)
Glad you had a good time in California and congrats to the lucky winner.
Paz
What a fun trip, Pat, and such BEAUTIFUL photos! Rodeo Drive is even more magnificant than it was when I meandered in and out of the stores in the eighties. (Didn't buy a thing, much to the snooty sales clerks' disdain. :)
ReplyDeleteIts like you learn my thoughts! You appear to grasp a lot
ReplyDeleteapproximately this, such as you wrote the e-book in it or something.
I feel that you simply can do with a few % to
force the message home a bit, however instead of that, this is excellent blog.
A fantastic read. I'll definitely be back.
