Christmas in NY Ornament Shop

I was shopping in Lower Manhattan's South Street Seaport yesterday and I came upon this Christmas in New York ornament shop on the second floor of the Pier Seventeen Mall.  Its web site says that it is the largest Christmas shop in New York City. Let's go inside!

Doesn't the life size Santa Claus figure in the window look so real?

The first of many Christmas trees on display was full of wonderful NYC themed souvenir ornaments.  To enlarge all photos click on them once, and then again when they open on a new page. Use your browser's "back" arrow to return to this post after viewing the enlarged photo.

A collage of just a few of the many delightful ornaments in the store. The Radio City Hall Rockettes are dancing in the upper left corner, sweet treats are in the top middle, and flag ornaments for many nations are in the top right.  Assorted coffee drink ornaments are in the bottom left, the "Big Apple" symbol for NYC in the bottom middle, and different versions of pretty Clara from the Nutcracker Suite ballet are in the bottom right. I really had to control myself, as I could have spent a small fortune here. I have to admit that I have a weakness for Christmas ornaments!

There were all kinds of Santa Claus figures and elves on this tree, and a small Santa in his sled pulled by reindeer was circling the tree on the white track you can see in the middle of the tree.

This tree was full of white and gold ornaments. All the ornaments seen on the trees were for sale in displays next to the tree.

This pretty pink tree was full of Nutcracker and ballet themed ornaments.

A collage of some really fun specialty trees. The first from the left is full of Irish themed ornaments, the second purple tree is full of young teen themed ornaments such as pink flip flops and high top sneakers and "BFF" signs, the next tree is full of chocolate, espresso and coffee themed ornaments, and the last blue tree is dedicated to all Yankee Baseball ornaments.

This beautiful tree was full of silver, white, crystal and a touch of blue ornaments.

A most unusual tree full of bird ornaments inside a golden birdcage!

One of my favorites was this gingerbread men and women themed tree!

This was an elegant red and gold music themed tree.

Perhaps the most unusual tree in the store was a black Halloween themed tree!

What was your favorite of all the trees in this shop?

I'm adding this post to Pink Saturday on Beverly's blog "How Sweet The Sound"  and  at Bargain Hunting with Laurie for Favorite Things.

I will be busy decorating my own Christmas tree this weekend!  I am very behind in all my holiday preparations since I returned on Monday from my grandson's birthday in Colorado. Come back soon as I'll be showing this year's Rockefeller Center Christmas tree and some other less well known, but equally beautiful, trees in Manhattan. Christmas in New York City is a wonderful time of the year!

  1. Love Christmas Shops...now to include the one you've introduced me to...and the trees are fabulous. I loved themed trees but always do an eclectic one...the ornaments have to go on whether they're themed or not...LOL
Sadly Don and I just missed Christmas in NYC...we moved to NJ in January of 1983 and moved away from NJ (to AZ) in Sept '83 so no NYC Christmas wonderfulness...sad!!

  2. I love the music themed tree, but the pink one is gross.

The idea of Santa trundling round a tree on the track is brilliant, but it looks so weird! For me, I'm afraid, it just doesn't work. Now if they had designed a thinner, silver, overhead cable with Santa's sleigh suspended, it could have looked really good!

  3. I love the silver, white, crystal, and blue one, so georgous!! But also the birdcage one!! I am a birdwatcher, so I just love this one, I wonder how much it costs? I Googled the store to try and find it's website, but couldn't. Just as well, I know I would order too many things! I thought that Santa was a real person. But the Halloween tree is ghastly. Halloween is the exact opposite of everything Christmas is about. Well, I have loved this post, I could spend all day and a fortune in there, and you posted lots of good and detailed pictures. I have lost track of the time I have spent scrolling and looking here.

  4. I would love to be in NY at Christmas. One could spend a small fortune in that ornament shop. I liked the silver, white and a splash of blue tree best of all.

  5. Maybe there will be a time when I'll celebrate Christmas there!

  6. Oh man...I love ornaments and I don't even have a tree up. Seems so silly just for me, and Hank would be 'up' it in the first moment and have everything off. I go crazy picking out ornaments -- I change my mind so much.

  7. Wow!!!! What a great tour you gave us and I loved being able to enjoy all the trees! You must tell - what did you buy?

  8. WHOA... that's a LOT of Christmas--LOL! But then one does expect Christmas to be BIG in the Big Apple :o) Very fun... I don't do a lot of decorating, but this sure inspires. Just love seeing all the themed trees and sparkly baubles. LOVE your new banner, Pat! Happy Weekend ((HUGS))

  9. Boy, that Santa does look real. I have a weakness for Christmas ornaments, too.

I like the Gingerbread Man/Woman Tree.

Have fun decorating this weekend. I will be baking. Merry Christmas! La

  12. Pat,
I love the detailed photos of the trees! It is fun to see all those wonderful ornaments up close. I volunteer on a Christmas house tour and I am always looking for new ideas to inspire me! The store looks magnificent and very deserving of a visit.

  13. OH WOW!!!!

Now I'm torn. The pink tree speaks to me but the halloween one just serenades me with its uniqueness!! Ooooh!! Such gorgeous gorgeous and utterly gorgeous trees and ornaments!!!! I love these trees!! Can you just buy the whole tree with the ornaments intact?? LOL!! I'll have the pink and the halloween one please thank you!

  14. I like the gingerbread themed tree - it reminds me of the gingerbread cookies I made and dec0orated with my kindergarten classes and with my own children. A couple of years ago we decided to make a gingerbread house while waiting for a relative who was still driving to the farm - it wasn't complicated but we sure had lots of fun!

  15. That really is fabulous! What an experience to shop there...like a kid in a candy shop! Love all of the beautiful trees! What a treat for the holidays! ♥

  17. I loved all the trees! I have made a point to avoid the malls this year, and shop at smaller stores...but now I think a trip to the big mall is in order. Just for some pictures of their trees!
    This is another friday's favorite
    :-)
    Thanks for joining in!

  18. Oh My Heart, Pat....I could spend a lifetime in that shop. Since George and I surprise each other with lots of different (sometimes funny and unique) ornaments each year, I would love browsing through that shop.

My favorite (of course) is the BIRD tree... But--I love the MUSIC one also... Awe Shucks--i love them all.

    Thanks for sharing.
    Merry Christmas.
    Hugs,

  19. That pink tree had some crazy fun things shooting out of it...I liked that look. None of those really grabbed me but so fun to see. I've had an all snowman tree before but I would probably pick things that were in jewel tones if I could have a tree that was really themed....what a fun store. Thanks for the tour.

  20. My favorite one was the blue, silver and white tree, but really I buy anything I like. So my own tree is full of everything...the theme is no theme. I loved the Nutcracker tree as well. I'm sure I would have had to buy something from that tree if I'd been there.

Sorry you are behind on everything, but I know you loved being able to spend a week in Denver.

  21. Pat, This post was such a treat for me...I would love this shop! Of course the gingerbread tree was my favorite. If I were there though, I would definitely have bought one of the Big Apple ornaments for our tree this year.

As far as Christmas is concerned, too much is NEVER enough. :)

  31. Oh I love exclusive Christmas shops like this. I try never to go in because, like you, I could leave a lot of cash behind. I love the Rockettes' ornament. Yes, I'll be back to see all the Christmas trees and I hope that you'll include your own when you're ready.

  40. There used to be several Christmas ornament shops in my area for many years...and I loved going to them and spending lots of money in them...slowly they have all disappeared! The economy? I miss them at this time of year...

I'd say that I love the gingerbread themed tree and the one with the mice on it. Our tree is up and lit, but waiting for the little ones to decorate it.

  47. How beautiful all those trees are! I love the Santa also. If I didn't think it would completely wig out my grandkids, I'd fly to NY right now and buy one!

    Merry Christmas,

  48. Not really my style, but I think it is more the overload in the displays. If my Lola keeps fussing with our tree, I may need to head over there to replenish what she's broken.
