We had a few weeks to prepare as my husband was otherwise in good health so his surgery was scheduled after the holidays, which was ultimately better for many reasons, as we avoided the "quademic" of three respiratory viruses and the GI norovirus was prevalent during the holidays Being prepared mentally also helped in his recovery. He came through his 6-hour surgery well and spent five days in a cardiac ICU before going home. I am an RN, so I felt capable to taking care of him at home at that time.
Our local hospital had this uplifting mural by the elevator bank--click on the photo to enlarge it to read the scripture.
The views from his hospital window were gorgeous and also uplifting!
Thank you to all for your encouraging comments and messages, etc, on social media! It is good to be back on my blog and I now hope to be able to return to a regular weekly post.
Please take care of your heart and make sure to see a doctor if you have any cardiac symptoms. Modern medicine is a miracle!

This is wonderful news, Pat. Thank you for taking the time to (and feeling the freedom) to explain about the surgery, what made it necessary, his recovery, and so forth. I am so glad he is doing well. I'm sure he's thankful he married a nurse!!!
Welcome Back. I missed you. I'm so happy to hear that the surgery was successful and that your husband is recovering well. I said a little prayer for you both. Take care.
Such good news is great. He was lucky to have caught the problem before it was too late. Hope he continues to get stronger. Bill has to go into hospital on 25 Feb to replace his pacemaker and have an extra lead into the heart. This is the fourth one he has had. Batteries last between 7-10 years. Did we wear out our heart throbs?
Hello
I am so glad your hubby's surgery went well! I know walking is good and important to keep moving. Love the mural and the views from the hospital. Sending well wishes for your hubby's recovery. Take care, have a wonderful week!
Hi Pat, this is wonderful news. You husband looks great just after surgery. Continued prayers for recovery and strength. love, laura
Oh, I am so glad he is better and recovering. I know you are relieved to have the surgery done and have him home to take care of. What a blessing! Take care....both of you! Hugs, Diane
How comforting it must be for him that he is married to a experienced nurse and the care at home will go well because of that. Glad the weather has cooperated for those walks. Take care and God bless...
I had followed some of his recovery on FB but not in so much detail, so thanks for that. I'm so grateful all went well, the care was good, the results all to the good and now well into recovery. My best wishes to both patient and caregiver!
I am so glad to hear that he is recovering well. My Dad had a triple bypass, so I understand how stressful it all can be. Sending all of my best wishes for his continued recovery!
...I've been there, done that! Do what the doctor says and you should be as good as new. My best to the two of you.
Oh, I get tears in my eyes. Indeed this was really a hard for your family and most for your husband. Very best wishes for a soon recovery.
Hugs by Heidrun

It's great to hear the good news of surgery that caught the problem and now his healing continues. Our hearts sure do take a beating (and keep on ticking)! This is the month of heart focus (Valentines) so we can all take a moment to be more aware of heart health!
Welcome back and I am so, so glad to read that his surgery went well. He's lucky to have someone so qualified at home to take care of him (I'm a hopeless nurse though I'm good at bringing yummy meals and drinks). Those views from his hospital room are so lovely. I will pray that his recovery continues to go well!
I am so glad your husband is recovering well! A few years ago my husband had a cardiac oblation to treat an arrhythmia. He is healthy now. May your husband continue to get stronger!
Modern medicine is a miracle. Strange so many people seem to fight it these days. Glad it was discovered and resolved before any real harm occured. #HappyNow
Glad he is recovering well and that he has a loving and attentive nurse to take care of him!
Great news that he is progressing in his recovery. I am so glad to hear it. Nowadays it seems that they got people up and on their feet soon after surgery.
Great to know your husband is doing well. How fortunate it was that he was diagnosed prior to a major heart attack happening. A lesson for us all to be proactive about our health.
Good to know he is recovering fast. Best wishes take care.
Oops I seemed to have commented under Anonymous, sorry about that. Hope you are all back to normal now.
Great news! Sending positive and healing vibes.

I'm so sorry to hear about your husband but that is good news that it caught it before he had a heart attack.
I was sorry to read about your husbands heart problems but so pleased that his surgery was successful and that he is recovering well.
Thinking of you both, and sending my good wishes.

I'll think of Vinny as I'm also taking my winter walks. We have so much snow here in Breckenridge. This January, I celebrated 15 years post heart attack. I'm so glad I had the extra years. I wish Vinny and you many healthy years too.
