Water Lilies for Pink Saturday

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden was beautiful on my last visit. The Lily Pond Terrace located in the garden has nearly 100 varieties of  water-lilies, lotuses, and other aquatic plants in a stunning summer display.

The Lily Pool Terrace began in 1919, shortly after the original conservatories were completed, and was finished in 1921. Hardy water-lilies are planted in large tubs set directly on the floor of the pools, while the tropicals and lotuses are raised above the pool floor to take advantage of the warmth from the pool's natural solar heat. The Lilies and lotuses were just beginning to bloom and by summer end the entire pond will be almost full of leaves and flowers.

Each and every one is an exquisite masterpiece!

Of course the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is also exploding with beautiful roses at this time of the year.

Click here to see my post about the Cranford Rose Garden contained within the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.  It's a wonderful time of the year to visit the garden to enjoy the color pink!

Thank you Beverly for another Pink Saturday event on your blog How Sweet The Sound!  It's always a treat to see the beautiful pinks all the participating blogs find each week so please visit Beverly to see all the links.

Sorry I didn't get to go there.
I tried to comment on prize, but it doesnt take google. I don't want
to join anymore Facebook etc.
Just saw Bridesmaids. Could have been a good movie, they spoiled it with the foul, filthy mouthed
language, I walked out. Can't pay money to be insulted. I went there to get cheered up. Lost my Dog. yvonne

How beautiful! I must figure out a way to make a silk ribbon water lily. They'd be great embellishments for my crazy quilts.

I am so glad you show everyone all the beauty that is in our 'asphalt jungle'! I haven't been there in years, but these photos make me want to drive in for a visit.

Re the movie "Bridesmaids", a friend of mine saw it and said there is a scene where they all get food poisoning and all need to use the bathroom at the same time -- not pretty. Crossed it off my list. xo,

I love water lilies. This year the decorator show hous featured a lotus pond. Can you even imagine being able to take coffee by the pond? The house also featured and incredible rooftop garden and I really cant imagine which I'd prefer. Love the roses and clematis pictured too.
