So where do a girl and a guy who were born in Brooklyn, New York, go to have wedding portraits taken? Of course, they go under the Brooklyn Bridge in Brooklyn Bridge Park! My daughter and son-in-law wanted to have this iconic landmark as part of their wedding shots, even though they now call the state of Colorado home.
Their professional husband and wife photography team went to great lengths to get their shots, and we were so happy the weather cooperated with us.
I had brought along my point and shoot camera and was able to take these photos while we waited. In this shot, my daughter is waving to people cheering their congratulations from a Circle Line Sightseeing cruise passing by in the East River.
Because we were in Brooklyn Bridge Park on a beautiful day, we were sharing our photo opportunity with quite a few park goers. On the other side of the park were picnickers and Jane's Carousel in full use. I've blogged about this wonderful new addition to the park on this post.
The bride and groom -- my hope is that the construction fence in the background isn't seen in the professional shots!
I captured the bridesmaids having a good time as they waited.....
...and one of the groomsmen took this photo of me with my son and husband.
Just look at this spectacular view only surpassed in beauty by the gorgeous line of young women standing in front of it!
At one point I caught my son and daughter-in-law smooching--I'm sure they were thinking about their own wedding day almost eight years prior!
The photographers moved us all into the historic ruins of the Civil War-era Tobacco Warehouse in the park. It is a another popular place for photos, as you can see by my daughter glancing at another bride and groom having their photos taken.
Our photographers had the bride and groom stand still while the bridal party had to run, jump and leap behind them. I'm sure there will be fun shots to see!
I could not take my eyes off my darling daughter and handsome son-in-law.
I also took the opportunity to take some more candid shots of my son and husband and daughter-in-law.
Finally, always being in a blogger mode, I couldn't resist taking this artsy shot of the Manhattan Bridge through the window frame of the warehouse.

Pat, you look radiant! I know this was a wonderful weekend full of special moments. I didn't realize that your daughter also lives in CO. Also didn't see the babies. Too young to be part of the wedding? Thanks for sharing more photos. I look forward to seeing the reception photos and any others you want to share.

Beautiful! She is a lovely bride.
Ours felt that way too, but not about Brooklyn! :)
They planned their pics for the beach
, but May 20, 2000 was def NOT a day for the beach, torrential rains, so no beach pics. You really lucked out with the weather.
Your son and his bride are very sweet too.
What lovely pictures! You look really good in your dress, Pat. It's amazing that the weather cooperated.
Love grows in Brooklyn. Love all the pics - they just radiate love and affection.
What lovely photos - I really enjoyed seeing your daughter and son-in-law. Got a kick out of your smooching son and daughter-in-law too. And I really do appreciate your "artsy" bridge pic. Seems like we bloggers are always on the lookout for something to capture.

The Brooklyn Bridge is such a spectacular place for photos. I'll bet your pictures will turn out lovely. Your camera shots were very nice, too. I think it is so nice to have your whole family dressed to the nines at the same time. Kind of a parent pay day! How fun!
More fun shots of a great day, love it:@)
How proud you are and no wonder you have a handsome family. How wonderful that they chose to be married in their hometown. It is truly a beautiful setting. The bridesmaid dresses are a lovely colour and the flowers match beautifully.

Being a Queens girl, I can understand wanting such a great landmark to be part of the event! Especially since both of the kids come from there originally.
Gorgeous bride. Beautiful pictures. I love your dress!
Congratulations and much happiness to all!
Simply wonderful photos! And such a beautiful day! You were blessed with such good weather. I so enjoyed th photos and of course that last shot through the window in the wall is exactly as you described it --blogger love!
Fun stuff, but glad I'm not a wedding photographer. it takes great patience. Seeing the photog on her belly on the grass, though, I'm guessing that she's shooting way up from way low to try to eliminate that black fence...ugh...glad i'm not her and hope that you love your daughter's pics of her special day! Congrats to all of you!
Gorgeous photos, Pat... That must have been a fabulous wedding --from the beginning to the end... Everyone looked so happy!!!
Thanks for sharing.
Hugs,
Betsy

Sam
Beautiful! The dress, the setting, it's all picture perfect! You can finally relax now that the wedding is over.
What a cool idea. Congrats to your family and lovely daughter!
Wonderful photos! Living in the country I rarely see city shots in wedding photos so these are exciting! Beautiful family--congratulations.
Pat, thanks for your comment on my "rant." We are really embarrassed to be living in Arizona right now. I am appalled by the thinking of the legislature and governor. After four years, one would think these people would realize that Obama is an American citizen, but you would be shocked to learn just how many people are still living with the dillusion that he is not.
Wonderful photos; everyone looks great!
=)
PS. My daughter and her hubby took wedding pictures by the Golden Gate Bridge. Some of the best shots were there.
Pat, what beautiful shots ! and perfect weather to! how fabulous you all looked!
Oh Pat, I so loved to see your wonderful pics of the wedding party in a non posing way. The setting with the Brooklyn Bridge and the Civil War ruins is awesome. It is a wonderful setting for photos. Your family is beautiful in every way and so are you. The love is so evident in your darling photos of them. Thank you for sharing the most lovely wedding and wedding party.
Blessings and happiness to you all.
Jeanne

Aw, I love the sentimentality of having photos taken under the Brooklyn Bridge! I've been checking every few days, eager to read more about the wedding. I'll keep checking back.
How are you doing now that the busyness is past? Relaxing I hope!
What a wonderful setting! Your daughter is beautiful. The dress is beautiful. Love the colors of the girls' dresses. You are lovely in that dress. It's one of my favorite colors. I'll be back with a cup of tea for a closer look at all. Can't wait to "attend" the reception.
Best,
Bonnie
