The end of May was a busy one for our family with end of school festivities for the grandchildren, a holiday weekend trip to another beautiful Colorado destination (future blog post!) and a birthday celebration for my husband. In between it all I discovered my laptop computer screen was broken. It was not cracked, but displaying blank spots and multi colored lines across the screen. In trying to troubleshoot the problem I attached a monitor to my laptop, which worked perfectly, with a clear display. That was a signal that my laptop screen was caput--gone--an expensive repair. So instead of repairing an older laptop I ordered a new one. It seems sadly that the more sophisticated electronics become these days, the less long lasting in durability they seem to be.
Spring in Colorado is never dull weather wise. We had a few storms in May that brought snow, and in some areas large damaging hail. Happily, Spring snow melts quickly along the front range. Only the higher elevations stay cold and snow filled longer. I took the photo above with my cell phone, as my husband and I drove north on CO State Highway 470. You can see the famous Red Rocks Amphitheatre in the distance, nestled in the red rocks below the snowy foothill above it. My husband and I attended a concert there recently, to hear Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull perform with the Colorado Symphony.
Spring snow also meant some pretty background scenery as we watched our grandsons play sports this spring. One played soccer and one played flag football and both had a good time. As you can see by the young mother's attire on the sidelines of the soccer field, we can have snow on the hills and still be warm. It's that extra warm Colorado sunshine we have living at over a mile high in elevation!
Spring also lit our sky with many bright rainbows ...
...and brought baby bunnies galore.
May brought apple blossoms...
..as well as the first Columbine flowers in our garden.
The beginning of June now brings hints of summer. The days grow longer and warmer. There will be hikes and barbecues, road trips and swimming, camps and vacations. Much to look forward to, much to enjoy!

So many interesting and beautiful things to see on this post Pat. Hmmm summer plans are a combination of hosting guests and visiting our grandbaby. Nothing exotic this summer. I'm hoping my laptop lasts for a few more years. Mostly I don't want to deal with a new program...
I saw a TV program about "The men that make us buy" It explained how manufacturer's these days purposely make things to only last about five years so that they break down and you have to buy new ones.
You must be happy to see summer coming after all that snow. Did you find it hard to breathe when you first went to live at a mile high?
Our winter started right on time. We had really warm weather until June. Now the days are getting cooler and shorter. 50°F to 70°F probably sounds warm to you but it is cold for us.
I hope to spend some tome in the foothills and on the beach this winter.

Beautiful spring/early summer photos. It seems that we went from cold weather to the heat of summer in about two days.The mountain background makes for great pictures. I have three more weeks of school bus driving and then two months of holidays. Yeah!!!!
Colorado is such a beautiful state. I love the variety of weather it provides, though I suppose you get tired of the snow at some point!
You have beautiful Columbines -- your very own State flower right in your very own yard. I love those and all your other spring flowers too.
We're on the road again this summer -- heading leisurely toward your beautiful state and our family there.... and then on to Oregon for summer and early fall. So excited.
That baby bunny is so sweet! Not a lot of summer plans yet - just lots of hiking! Waiting for the snow in our mountains to melt and open the trails - will likely be late this year.
There's a lot to see in your area of the USA, Pat. I think I would never tire of looking at those beautiful mountains. It's so great that you can attend your grandchildren's events and be a close part of their lives. This summer I hope to spend more time with my grandchildren (since I won't be teaching), and my husband and I have a boating trip planned. But there are still a couple of weeks of school left here before all that begins.

I always enjoy seeing the Colorado scenery through your eyes, the Red Rock Amphitheatre is simply amazing and I can imagine how wonderful it would be to go to a concert there.

I think we have gone from spring to autumn missing summer out, although I'm hoping it is just a blip. Currently I'm watching the fog and torrential rain pour down whilst a deer shelters nearby. You're photos are so picturesque especially with the snowy mountain top backdrop. That bunny is beyond cute too!

I just came back from a trip to Europe, so, I have not done tons of plans for summer. I think we are going to lay low this month (we have tons of commitments anyway) and start moving on July.
They are all amazing beautiful landscapes, but i love most the snow background. Those rocks at the first looks like remnants of the giants, haha!
By the way are there butterflies there too?

I'm so behind in blogging lately, but I was happy to see all your wonderful spring photos today. The green grass with snow-covered mountains in the background is cool and I love the precious little baby rabbit and beautiful apple blossoms! My summer plans involve work...not too exciting but we need to get some things finished around here. Hopefully a nice trip will be taken this fall.
