I'm back to blogging about Colorado after many posts about our trip to Italy--you can see those posts under this label "Italy" Meanwhile, Spring came slowly to our home state of Colorado. Our high elevation above sea level means that we can receive snowfall until the end of May. Colorado is the only U.S. state that lies entirely above 3,280 feet (1000 meters) in elevation. Our climate is considered 'high desert" so our low humidity and hot sun often make temperatures feel warmer than the thermostat reads during the day, while evening and night temperatures are cool. It is not unusual to see snow at the highest elevations right up until the end of June, although snowpack this winter was less than normal in many places, and many of those high elevations are now open to driving and hiking.
Springtime means the new fawns are being born and the bucks are re-growing their antlers. This buck was right outside our kitchen window!
Spring winds brought beautiful and unusual cloud formations...
...all along the Front Range of Colorado.
Spring rains brought green grass and beautiful wildflowers to the foothills...
..as well as to our front yard garden!
The best part of springtime in Colorado for me was spending quite a bit of time with my grandchildren and enjoying all their activities. Taekwondo, lacrosse games, school field days, birthday celebrations, dance recitals, preschool graduation, rodeo day, and pool time! It has been a fun and busy time for all of us, with more fun occasions ahead as the summer arrives.

Wow - your spring is so beautiful!
Hello, Spring is beautiful in Colorado. I love the deer, flowers and the beautiful clouds. Happy Memorial Day! Enjoy your day and new week ahead.
Wow, Pat! What a fabulous photo of that deer! And your flowers are just lovely. Fave moment of spring so far? Seeing deer at the Ditch!
beautiful lenticular clouds!
Love reading about your travels and love reading about your home (kind of like I feel about living my own life actually!) Love the flowers!!! Spring is beautiful in Colorado and we look forward to once again experiencing some of it when we get there next month. I know you are looking forward to having summer fun with those darling grandkids!
ALL of your photos are so good (as always). That buck outside your window is something else!!
I especially admire your photo collage of the wild flowers. You did a fine job with them.
My fav part of spring here in Jacksonville, FL was when our unexpectedly cold winter (for FL) came to an end and we could once again enjoy leisurely strolls along the beach and eat shrimp while watching the ocean waves come rolling in.
Those clouds are so cool!
I showed your pics to my hubby! I've never seen such unusual clouds and of course it's neat for us to see snow on the mts! Looks like a good start to the summer for your family. Hugs, Diane (I'll be visiting your Italy pics again and again....when I need to 'get away'!)
Beautiful images!
Thanks for sharing your springtime with us at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2018/05/check-our-catbirds.html
Always fun with the grandbabies, huh? Those clouds are very unusual! The 1st one looks like a UFO and the 2nd like a shark!
Colorado is truly a beautiful state. You have captured it so well!
I love those Mountain View’s,but those cloud formations are stunning. Wow!
Lovely views from your beautiful state!
Pat I always enjoy your lovely photos. The clouds are outstanding and the snow capped mountains are so pretty against the blue skies of your lovely state. I love wild flowers and enjoyed seeing the ones you featured as well as those in your garden. Spring certainly looks like its on its way to you!
My favorite moments of spring always include the earth coming to life. But as always time spent with family is best. Nice to see your family photos as well. ♥
Your Colorado springtime is a beautiful one. The deer is so graceful and sweet looking. I hope she doesn't much your garden. Enjoy these last days of spring.
Beautiful deer! I like the clouds too, and your other pictures are excellent.
Ooh such gorgeous clouds. Have a nice week
much love...
Seeing inhabited places on top of the world is still a dream for me until now. Another still lingering dream is walking barefoot on top of fallen leaves in Autumn. I love the expression on that deer, almost similar to the look of goats'kids without the antlers, hehe.
You certainly captured some amazing scenes of Spring time in Colorado, I can imagine the thrill of seeing a young buck outside your window, so exciting. Looking forward to seeing more of your family activities, roll on summer.
Beautiful photos ~ love the deer, the sky and flowers!
Happy Times to you,

So good the weather is getting warmer and warmer in Colorado. We have a period of morning fog (for the next month or so). I can't wait for summer to arrive.
Isn't being a grand parent a great thing? Glad you are physically closer to them now! Wow, those clouds are stunning! Also enjoying the flowers here. Many thanks for changing you comment profile for All Seasons! Have a lovely week Pat!
Springtime in Colorado looks lovely.
I enjoyed all of your photographs, what a fabulous mix.
Those cloud formations do look unusual.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
All the best Jan
Wow! Those skies are just stunning! I'm loving your spring. :)
Really unusual and beautiful clouds. I've seen clouds like that a couple times in the desert... almost UFO-like! Love the close-up of the buck outside your kitchen window! Enjoy your weekend.
I agree Pat...spending time with grandchildren is the best part of any trip....Lovely photos of nature too.. Michelle
Those clouds are absolutely amazing!
Thank you for linking up today!!
Fantastic.
I love those cloud formation photos. Spring sounds really nice in Colorado (though I am impatient enough for the snow to melt here in New England so I'm not sure I could handle such late snows).
I love spring in Colorado. Along with summer, fall, and winter!
Wow! ... the clouds!!! Spring is beautiful in Colorado.
One of my favorite places to visit. Enjoyed this tour as it has been awhile since I was in "God's country.
Pat - so lovely to see the pictures from your neck of the woods! We have a LOT of deer in our neighborhood, but it was only yesterday that we saw one with antlers developing … My daughter is now in Aspen for her summer job and I have a prompt for weather there that shows they have been under fire warnings. Hope the lack of winter precip does not affect you! My favorite moment(s) so far this spring have been seeing the moose in our lake!
those sky formations are work of art!
So beautiful, especially the unusual clouds!
Beauty abounds in Colorado in the Spring for sure. Those clouds are really amazing!
The fawn is adorable, but those two sky photos are amazing! Wow!

Whoa....that top cloud formation makes me think of a UFO.
Spectacular skies, beautiful flowers.
You and your husband are an inspiration to me. You moved out west to be close to your family and have adjusted well. I love that kind of thing.
Beautiful photos, as usual, Pat. I especially love seeing the wildlife you are able to photograph up close.
Love your beautiful springtime in Colorado photos! And time with the grandchildren is always so precious! Loved the cloud shots!
Springtime in your state has to be wonderful. The cloud formations that you photographed are some of the strangest I've seen.
So beautiful. Do the mountaintops stay snowy all summer?
