The weather in May in Colorado is very changeable and has been displaying some very dramatic skies lately. We have had frosty mornings, large clouds, thunderstorms, a bit of hail, rainbows, some tornadoes on the plains, and swollen creeks everywhere.
The rain has made everything very green. Trees are budding, lilacs are prolific and the deer are well-fed and shedding their winter fur.
Between raindrops, my husband and I have been busy this past week clearing old leaf debris from our gardens, trimming dead branches, spreading mulch, weeding, planting seeds, potting annual flowers, and cleaning our patios in anticipation of summer fun.
The spring perennials in my garden photo collage are Brunnera Jack Frost (upper left), Forget-Me-Not (lower left) Daffodil (upper right), Narcissus (middle right) Vinca (lower right). I look forward to many more perennials blooming in June!
My husband and I took a drive to Rocky Mountain National Park this week before the new reservation system kicks in over Memorial Day weekend. The park saw a record-breaking amount of visitors the past few years and, because of covid, a reservation system was instituted to control the number of people in the park. It worked so well it was instituted again this year from May 28th until October 12th, 2021. I'll be posting photos from that trip in my next blog post.
Meanwhile, stay happy and healthy my friends!

May looks beautiful in Colorado!
Beautiful images! I'd love to come visit Colorado again.
Thanks for sharing at https://image-in-ing.blogspot.com/2021/05/make-hay-while-sun-shines.html
What beauty!!
Everyone is so anxious to get out to the parks! You got beautiful photos as always. What views from a distance! And always changing! Enjoy your week!
Wonderful collages of the month of May. Such beautiful flowers and countryside.
Very merry for sure. Beautiful images.
You have been busy with "homework" -- oh, and HARD homework, cleaning up after winter! And road trips (how lovely to visit the park before it gets too crowded) and the soccer games. I bet those are your favorite after a year of not being able to participate! A good month for you!
Lovely flowers!
That is such a beautiful area. Thanks for sharing these images.
Awww...glad you could get back to your grandchildren's sports games again. My husband and I are also cleaning out the flowerbeds and sprucing everything up for spring. What a job! But so rewarding.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful sights. Our oldest grandson has moved to Glenwood, CO, just this week. We have only 1 of 5 grandchildren still involved in group sports. We have spend many an hour on the side lines of soccer, basketball, lacrosse, track and lacrosse games. Almost time to sell the stadium seats, I guess.
What nice photos, it's still cold and wet here in London like Autumn heheh!
Have a sunnytastic week 👍
That rainbow is fabulous - so strong in colour!
glad you're enjoying your grandchildren - lovely photos today!
We were suppose to go to Colorado this past week, unfortunately we had to cancel.
It's nice to be getting back to normal isn't it? Especially for (and with) the kids! I think the reservation system at RMNP (and any of the Nattional Parks) is a good idea -- so many more people have fallen in love with "outdoors" as a result of the pandemic -- without some crowd control, our national treasures will be loved to death! Still I'm glad you two got to do a spontaneous trip before the seasonal restrictions kicked in.
Majestic landscapes.
Pat - yes, I can relate to the changeable weather. These last few days have been much cooler, and we've received almost an inch and a half of rain. No complaints from me - it has been a steady rain and so good for the entire landscape! Lilacs are one of my favorite flowers. Your garden blooms are lovely. And I am so glad for you that you are able to attend kids' games again! Glacier National Park is instituting a reservation system this summer for the first time, and I think it is just the right thing to do! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, and enjoy the rest of your week!
You sound like you have been working hard in the garden. Well done! That is one of the reasons we moved into a village. The gardening was getting too much for me. The kids and grandparents are having fun with their sports. How do you fit it all in? Continue having fun in May. we have mild Autumn weather but I found it cold in the highlands last week.
...May looks like a fabulous month for you, lets hope that June is too.
Your flowers are beautiful. I look forward to reading your next post on the park. #HomeMattersParty

From what you've shared here, I'd say that there's just about always a nature shot available in Colorado.
I love your dramatic skies. I also love attending my granddaughters soccer practices and games, so I can relate to your joy! It sure is nice have things return to something closer to normal.
Glad to hear you are getting rain. Can't always count on that. I love how you are living your life to the fullest.
Beautiful collection.
Very creative!
Greetings and Salutations! I like how you grouped each subject. Colorado does have some beautiful places to see. Nice job!
