I have seen many photos on social media from warmer climates of spring-like conditions with flowers and trees in bloom, but in Colorado winter will persist quite a while longer, teasing us with some warm days followed by days of cold and snow. In fact, March is Colorado's snowiest month! Denver averages 11.3 inches of snowfall in March, which is more than any other month. Here are some photos and quotes reflections on the month of March which heralds the end of winter and the beginning of spring:
"In March winter is holding back and spring is pulling forward. Something holds and something pulls inside each of us too."
~ Jean Hersey
"Snow was falling so much like stars, filling the dark trees that one could easily imagine its reason for being was nothing more than prettiness."
~ Mary Oliver
"There is no winter without snow, no spring without sunshine, and no happiness without companions."
~ Korean proverb
"I believe the world is incomprehensibly beautiful--an endless prospect of magic and wonder."
~ Ansel Adams
It is the life of the crystal, the architect of the flake, the fire of the frost, the soul of the sunbeam. This crisp winter air is full of it."
~ John Burroughs
"Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful for beauty is God's handwriting."
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
My heart aches for Ukraine. It was the birthplace of my maternal grandparents, who immigrated at separate times to the USA in the early 1900s. We have donated to the International Red Cross, The World Central Kitchen, and Unicef, and if you would like to help they are a few of the charities that are helping the many innocent people fleeing into Poland and other counties for their safety. Please keep praying for a miracle, for peace and freedom in Ukraine!

Pat - our weather has been up and down like a yo-yo. I am not quite ready for winter to be over, but some of these warm days do have me aching for spring. Here's to margaritas on the deck!
My heart is breaking for the people of Ukraine, and for all those in Russia who do not support this invasion. It is hard to imagine a diplomatic solution in this situation, but we must keep praying. Thanks for sharing these beautiful photos, and the quotes to match!
Dear Pat,
Thank you for sharing your stunning shots with us!
We also are living the very first Winter days in March, let's hope in some snow!
Wishing you a lovely new week
XOXO Daniela at ~ My little old world ~ (Dany)
Always lovely to see your peaceful part of the world Pat. Love the sunflowers too we are thinking alike this week.

Hello,
Your snow scenes are beautiful, the skies look lovely too. Beautiful views and captures of the deer. Ukraine is in my prayers. Take care, enjoy your new week!
Your photos and quotes are lovely. I didn't know that March was the snowiest month there!
Have a good last hurrah of winter. Beautiful scenes and I loved the quotes!
Beautiful photos and I loved seeing the Snow and Deer. Living in Texas we don't get that much Snow but one day I would like to bring my son somewhere where we could have enoough Snow to Sled and build Snow people in.
These are truly stunning...every one a perfect postcard or Christmas card. Love seeing the snow where you live. And I appreciate what you wrote about the Ukraine. We are praying and thanks for the links to donate. Hugs, Diane
May every sunflower blooming on social media bring Ukraine one step closer to peace!
I love this post. Your quotes are so wonderful and photos so richly illustrate them.
...beautiful images! Our snow has melted.
How beautifully your photos illustrate those wonderful quotes. The first time we visited after our kids moved to Colorado I was very surprised to learn that March was the snowiest month! I remember a man in our RV Park telling us to come back in February (it was Autumn when we were there that first time), "but," he said "never ever come in March." .... I would actually love to drop in just for a few days to see the beautiful snow, if only it weren't so difficult to get in and out. I join you of course in prayers and hopes for Ukraine .. and Europe ... and the world!
As much as we all long for spring, those late winter snowfalls bring much needed moisture and make the landscape picture perfect.
You've got some great shots in those snowy collages. Well done! #BlueMonday
I love your quotes today Pat. Not least "peace and freedom in Ukraine". Awful times but peace will prevail.
Loved all the photos that proverb is so true too :-)
Have a reflectivetastic week 👍
Wonderful photos and quotes to accompany.
My kind of weather. Beautiful shots.
We still get substantial snowfalls through the month.
What beautiful photos! It warmed up into the 50's today and much of our snow and ice have melted but I know we'll probably have another snow storm or two before we see lasting spring weather.
Your lovely photos always bring a smile, Pat! And the quotes are so meaningful to accompany their beauty. Spring is beginning to tease us here in Virginia. Today was close to 80 today which is crazy, and tomorrow will bring much cooler temperatures.
We are praying for all of the Ukrainians. The horror and terror that they are enduring is beyond my imagination.
Beautiful photos accompanied by such wonderful quotes.
Beautiful snow images.
We all keep our eyes on Ukraine remembering to pray.
Your photos as always are simply stunning. The opening image is truly magnificent.
Slava Ukraini! Glory to Ukraine! Slava Geroiam! Glory to the Heroes!
Oh my! You did get pummelled with snow. But the photos are absolutely stunning. Don't you love it when it's all fresh and white? And those deer. I'm such a sucker for deer, but especially beautiful in the snow.
Your sunflowers are beautiful. Thank you for the list of charities. I've done some donating (Red Cross) but will head to Unicef. I hadn't thought of that.
I'm one of those weird people that loves winter, and thinks it doesn't last long enough. Lovely snow pics!
the snow is so beautiful and i enjoyed the quotes!! praying for ukraine here as well!!
Beautiful winter photography.
Great quotes! I love reading them. Plus, sensational winter scenes.
Beautiful winter photos, and the quotes compliment them perfectly!
A poetic and beautiful post.
We are supposed to get some snow here tomorrow. I'm glad I am retired.
Beautiful pics of the snow, scenery and animals. Each one is just gorgeous.
These wintry scenes are incredible.
Worth a Thousand Words
Beautiful pictures.
beautiful snow images.
I like seeing your snowy Front Range photos. Our mountain weather has also been yo-yo - sometimes frigid and other times mild. We are still behind in snowpack so I'm hoping April is a wet month!
Fabulous photographs ...
All the best Jan
Your photos are stunning and a joy to look at. The information about the opera is very interesting although book was too scary for me. We are going to see Don Carlos a five hour opera next week.
