This has been a hard holiday season between the devastation of Hurricane Sandy and the tragedy in Newtown, Connecticut, but as always, life must go on. That is the nature of acceptance, healing, and optimism. There is always the hope that things will get better and that love and good deeds will conquer evil. As Christmas approaches, I find the wonderful holiday scenes in New York City very uplifting. What better way to feel a little Christmas spirit return to my heart than partake in the note card party of Vee's at her blog "A Haven for Vee" and post some of these photos from past Christmases?

Stunning! It would be hard to pick a favorite, though I can do it. Should I? Will you be shocked? I just love the second one with the water looking like liquid gold and those red ornaments stacked there with the sign for Radio City Music Hall in the background. The Macy's building speaks to me next. Your photography is fantastic. You should be winning prizes!

Fabulous pictures. I've been sapped of energy and haven't gotten around to Rockefeller Center or Macy's. I'm enjoying simple pleasures of spending time with friends. Sending Christmas greetings to you.

Hi! I popped over from Vee's. I just discovered her blog tonight and her Note Card Party. I'm glad I stumbled upon it all! Your photos are wonderful My aunt just called me last night as she had just returned from a week of touring NYC. She loved Times Square and all the other places she was able to make it to. I'd love to visit your city at Christmas sometime!

We have a small retail store in Lancaster, PA and we come into the city about once a month to buy.
We went just for fun the week of Christmas last year, and had a great day!

Most of my life was spent just across the water, a simple 25 minute drive into the city and I rarely went except to visit Brentanos Books when it was there.
I so want to make the trek in to see the decorations. Maybe next year.

Last week's tragedy still sits heavy in the heart, doesn't it? Today was the first I was finally able to speak of it at my blog. Thank you so much for all this beauty and much needed lift, Pat. These photos are glorious and certainly fill every bit of needing a little Christmas.
I think we all struggle this season with the sadness that Hurricane Sandy and the evil act that took place in Newtown Connecticut.
Yesterday we stood waiting with my new Grandson to see Santa. There were so many little ones around us as we waited. I teared up thinking about the little ones who had lost their lives.
Yet, if we can remember all of the wonderful people who came to help after the hurricane, restoring our hope in people; and know that we all pray and feel the compassion for Newtown...somehow it makes this Christmas all about what Christmas should be.
We need to be the light for those who need our support. We are all together in one spirit.
Wishing you and your family a beautiful Christmas. You have been a light in my life all year long.
