I am proudly flying the American flag at my home this holiday, but I thought I'd show another symbol of liberty for our great country.
I'll be watching the fireworks in the sky over Lady Liberty on July 4th! God Bless the USA!
My photo
The New Colossus
~ Emma Lazarus
Not like the brazen giant of Greek fame,
With conquering limbs astride from land to land;
Here at our sea-washed, sunset gates shall stand
A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
Glows world-wide welcome; her mild eyes command
The air-bridged harbor that twin cities frame.
"Keep ancient lands, your storied pomp!" cries she
With silent lips. "Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free,
The wretched refuse of your teeming shore.
Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me,
I lift my lamp beside the golden door!"
my photo
This famous sonnet written by Emma Lazarus in 1883, is graven on a tablet within the pedestal on which The Statue of Liberty stands.
I salute all immigrants, past, present and future, who have entered, and will enter, our shores with a desire to enjoy America's freedoms, and who make our nation great.
Happy 4th of July to one and all!

Everytime I see her I remember when I climbed up all those stairs to reach her crown.
