I, along with other select BlogHer bloggers, received this fabulous sample package of Poise products recently to try out and review! It may not be easy to talk publicly about the bodily changes that pre-menopause and menopause bring, but I believe this generation of women has been the most open and intelligent of any prior generations when dealing with the changes their bodies go through in all the stages of life. We can certainly help the younger generations of women by continuing to share our experiences. Fifty million women across North America are approaching or experiencing menopause and most have an average of five menopausal symptoms, although no two experiences are exactly alike. The 2013 Product of the Year award-winning Poise Feminine Wellness line was introduced to help women approach life's changes with confidence. The line consists of five products designed to help women feel fresh and stay cool.
The line includes:
Poise also offers a Roll-On Cooling Gel that helps you feel comfortable and refreshed. Squeeze the tube and gently roll the cooling gel on the wrists, chest, or neck for a cooling sensation that lasts up to 10 minutes.
Poise also sells Panty Fresheners that have a fresh and clean scent that lasts up to four hours. These discreet, hypoallergenic fresheners stick to the outside of your undergarments so you can confidently go about your day.
My body has been getting a workout lately between shoveling the snow from our home's three-car driveway or walking the winding, uphill trails in our neighborhood. Soon, I will be taking care of my granddaughter when my daughter returns to work in her profession. It is nice to know there are Poise products that I can rely on to help keep me cool, fresh, and odor-free during my busy days!
Now for a question: “How are you approaching life's changes confidently?”
* In full disclosure I was given Poise products to try and review and I am being compensated by Poise and BlogHerto to write this post. All opinions are my own and have not been influenced in any way by Poise or BlogHer.

Good Morning Pat, I think it is a fabulous idea for women to talk about the menopause....pre or post. When my mother was going through the menopause she did not even realise what was happening to her, she said she just didn't feel right and my mother-in-law said the family thought she was having a nervous breakdown,(that show's how little information there was out there in those days).
As you say, because as women, we talk about the menopause it allows younger women to know what is ahead of them. I have discussed the menopause symptoms with my two daughters, just to give them an idea of what to expect.
Thank you for such an interesting post.
Best Wishes
Daphne
overall my menopause experience was...basically symptom free. I was blessed I know. I kept waiting for hot flashes and never had even one. other than dryness which over time has resolved and feeling somewhat more irritable than usual I passed through this phase of my life unscathed. however, these Poise products sound quite useful...and I do currently use Poise pads!
I must say that I daily rely on Poise products at this stage in my life. Thank you for this post, Pat!
Sounds like you are getting a workout without going to the gym.
I have never heard of the cooling products, but I do love their pads. I need to track down those towelettes and maybe that gel....just to be ready. I laugh that right now I am having baby warm ups, but who knows what may change. I'm thinking these products would even help on the high humidty/100+ degree weather days we can get in the summer.
There's a product called the "chill-o pillow". It is a gel filled heavy duty plastic covered mini-pillow that you slip between your pillow and pillowcase. You activate the gel when you open the product and it remains in a cooled state for 2 years. Its designed to help regulate body temperature overnight and to provide a cooling sensation, but is also great for using at the pool too where everyone feels like they're baking! I've given several as gifts and they are greatly appreciated.
thank you for sharing these products with us.
women helping women is important through
all stages of life.
Excellent post, Pat. These products certainly make life more comfortable during menopause. Thanks for sharing this very valuable information.
I'm not crazy about all the side effects of getting older... but... its better than the alternative!
I'm trying to accept these changes by being possitive and accept that this is part of life.
Thanks so much.

Think still in a bit of shock I went into early menopause. I had thyroid cancer, had surgery and radiation, then on suppression therapy. Apparently can happen but no Dr. ever said it to me. So just when we were talking about having a 2nd child my body quits an dries up — literally. In a sad mode right now but trying to find my way out of it confidently right now.

Pat, I admire you and Poise for this very honest post full of real life's 'realities'! I do use these products and I need not say so with embarassment. I have just turned 58 and have passed through menopause AT LAST. Yet, I now encounter different physical issues that come with age (along with wisdom!!!) that Poise products help me with. I'm a real stickler for personal hygiene "all over our bodies". I didn't write this post for an ad for the company . . . it's just the simple truth.
Have a most lovely weekend Pat,
Roz
Luckily I sailed though the change of life with very few symptoms.
I've learned through life that all change had positive and negative sides. Happiness comes with focusing on the positive and making the best of things.

I am fine, so far. I had the night sweats 6 years ago and nothing since other than some light incontinence. I just hit 50 so I am sure the rest of menopause should be hitting me any time now. It's about the age my Mom started going through it. I just hope I handle it as gracefully.

Hi Pat.
When I first saw the Poise products as your page come up, I thought perhaps I had somehow been redirected, or perhaps typed in the wrong info. Then when I saw that I was at the right spot, I thought huh? But once I started reading, I thought well kudos to Pat for being up front about things we all think about. Gosh, can you even imagine our mothera talking about this? to people they had never met? I worked in GYN nursing for over a quarter century prior to an early retirement due to illness. I started my career in 1973, and those poor women who were just beginning menopause suffered in silence and had a terrible time asking for help. I think it is so much better for women today who can face this as just another of life's seasons. We can talk, and yes, laugh about this. Why, a friend of mine had her first hot flash while at the tailor's. She was mortified, but her tailor, a lovely gentleman, immediately recognized what was going on, and put her at ease when he said "Oh, it is nothing. It happens to my wife all the time!" My friend, who until then was on the verge of tears, began to laugh so hard, she had to sit down until she composed herself, by which time, the tailor had left and reappeared with a towel. This was a fun post!
Enjoyed the post - but must admit - when I had hot flashes - I enjoyed them - because I live in MN!
I'm not quite there yet, but I'm trying to lose weight and eat healthier so that it will be easier when the time comes.

Like my mother before me, I am relying on God's word to get me thru these years! I do not use any of the medications for hot flashes etc. because the adverse effects they have on us far outweigh the day to day struggles of menopause! I am very grateful for the medical background I have and how I have managed to live without a lot of prescription drugs. You are a gracious hostess.
I am taking it one day at a time
I seem to be experiencing things and I go to the doctor and she tells me it is part of perimenopause and menopause. I have a few health issues and a lot of stress in my life on top of this so I am trying to cope and take it day by day.

I have actually have not started having symptoms of menopause yet, but I am probably getting close to that happening. Although, my mother was in her mid 50's before she went through it. I exercise regularly and take vitamins. I don't have problems with leakage or anything like that, but I have tried the poise pads before and I like them a lot!

I was lucky that my menopause symptoms were relatively mild. Now my only remaining issues are bladder control. No one told me that I would have to find a rest room within 30 seconds to avoid an accident. Super absorbent pads are a "must have" when I'm out in public.
