Postcard Swap and a Photo Tag!

The very artistic Steviewren of A Little Birdie Told Me So hosted a fun post card swap recently. All the participants agreed to send a postcard to each participant, and we would receive one from each in return. We sent all the post cards at one time to Steviewren who wrote out the address for each participant, and then mailed them out in intervals so that we'd receive them slowly. It was fun to have mail to look forward to beyond bills, ads and charity requests which are all I seem to get in the mail these days.

Everyone was so creative! The post cards had recipes, poems, a blog scrabble, photo collages, hand stamped and hand painted designs. three dimensional appliques -- all were a delightful surprise to receive! I'm afraid I was the least creative as the ones I sent out were an actual NYC postcard .... but I did at least add a little rubber stamp design to each in the comments section.
Thanks Steviewren! This was fun and I'd love to participate again sometime!

Trish, of Nana's Living The Dream tagged me last week in a "Photo Tag" whose rules were to go to my photo folders on my computer, open the fourth folder, and post the fourth photo, and write about it!
Here it is:

We were on the Queen Mary 2 to celebrate our 30 wedding anniversary on the fall foliage cruise that went 12 days to New England, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and down the St. Lawrence River to Quebec, Canada. This photo was taken in Newfoundland, where we took a day excursion, and I took this photo of the Queen Mary 2 docked at the city of Corner Brook.
My husband had won a digital camera in a charity raffle he entered earlier in the year, and we took it along with us on the cruise, but I hardly used it. I didn't care for it at the time because I liked my trusty old Kodak film camera better and didn't see the point of digital, as I liked to have hard copies of my photos developed to put in photo albums.
Wow, has that changed -- now I couldn't live without a digital camera! I have so many photo folders on my computer now that my free Picasa storage is nearing its end and I will have to upgrade soon.

Thanks Trish, for this fun tag!

I am supposed to tag four people to do this photo tag, so I'm choosing Diane of A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words, Joanne of My Little Cottage In The Making, Dana of The Stone Rabbit, and Sherry at Edie Marie's Attic.

Hope you are all able to join in and take a little walk down memory lane!

A postcard swap sounds like a very fun idea!

And I'm so glad you could share a pic of Newfoundland. It brought back many memories of our visit there in 2002...we passed through Cornerbrook in our travels as well.

Pat, what a fun swap idea. I had not heard of swapping postcards before, but I love the idea.

And, such a fun tag. I smiled at your digital experience. I think so many of us have been there and done that. ;-)

Hi Pat,
Thanks for thinking of me! I'll see what I can do!

I enjoyed reading about your photo. That is a trip I would love to make along with lots of others! LOL

I know how you feel about the camera...having the first grandbaby is what convinced me, so I've been taking digital pics since Connor was born!

This idea of sending postcards sounds wonderful, that was a great idea. I also like the tag, I am not on your list, I hope you won't mind if I take it for myself.

Pat, I'm so glad you enjoyed the postcard swap. Since I love finding real mail in my mailbox, I thought others would too.

Your cruise from New England to Quebec sounds like as nice a way to celebrate an anniversary as your recent trip to Key West.

Oh I know what you mean about digital pics. Rich begged me to get this camera on our honeymoon and I didn't want to, but who knew I would be using it more than him?? LOL

hugs,
rue

Oh... I forgot...

Rich's favorite meal I make is Gorgonzola Steak and garlic mashed potaoes and I bought the dishes at JC Penny's and they still have them.

I'm so glad you enjoyed the tag. I love the picture of the ship. What an amazing view! Wasn't the card swap fun? If anyone wants to head it up I'm game again. Avery and I worked on them. She sat with me and painted some pictures for herself that were similiar. It was a fun project!

Oh, I love the postcard swap idea! I'd have SO been in on that. I'll keep my eyes peeled for another one.

And...can you believe the photos in my post are all private homes?? Not a B&B in the bunch! Crazy. You definitely need to put Lambertville on your calendar for '09. I'll be your tour guide. :-)

Loved your photo and story. What an experience!! You are one of the most well-traveled people I know. I've got to lose some weight so I can fit into that steamer trunk!!

What a lovely idea to have real postcards come through like that. So much nicer than email as lovely as that is!

Yes I love my digital camera too. It tends to come with me nowadays as I see things I think might interest other bloggers.
