Pink Saturday Retrospective and Whoops!!

Welcome! I am excited to be a featured Pink Saturday blog today! I joined Beverly of the How Sweet the Sound blog's Pink Saturday with my first Pink post on September 27, 2008.  Even though I hardly have anything pink in my house, and pink is not one of my favorite colors to wear, I wanted to challenge myself to look for Pink in my world and join in on all the fun of Pink Saturday.

Guess what?

Even though I devote much of my blog to the wonderful sights, events and locations throughout New York City where I live, and sights from all of my many travels, My First Pink Saturday post is the most popular of all my blog posts according to my Blogger stats, with almost 4,000 page views for this one post!

Now that's what I call "Pink Power"!

I made a photo mosaic of the photos from that post, as you can see above, and although the photos in that post of my cat, a pink door in Ireland, pink roses, a pink squid from Brooklyn's annual Mermaid Parade, and pink hats in store in San Diego were all pretty, my guess is that those pink bridesmaids dresses attracted a lot of attention in Google searches or Google images, which in turn lead to a lot of visits to my blog. My daughter is the tall and pretty bridesmaid in that photo. (all photos will enlarge if clicked on once, and then again when they open on a new page)

I went through all my Pink Saturday posts to make some more photo mosaics of all my past Pink Saturday Posts and it was fun to see all the pinks I found through the years!

Among the photos above is a pink brownstone in Brooklyn, a pink house in Key West, Florida, a girl with pink hair on Manhattan's elevated Highline Park, NYC 2009 marathon runners who were wearing pink, the Brooklyn Botanic garden's pink roses and cherry blossoms, a pink opera costume at the Metropolitan Opera , a pink stretch limousine in Brooklyn, a pink bicycle on the streets of the East Village in Manhattan and a pink clown car in Colorado.

Pink is certainly everywhere!

This is a mosaic of photo collages of some of the pink flowers that I've profiled on past Pink Saturday posts.

Another mosaic of photo collages from past posts with an assortment of pink things I found in Manhattan, Beverly Hills and San Francisco.

My most famous pink photo was the one of a beautiful pink chandelier.

This 1,900-piece, Louis XV chandelier once hung in the main banking hall of J. P. Morgan at 23 Wall Street. The two commercial properties have been converted into luxury condominium apartments and the chandelier was saved and put on permanent display as a design element in the lobby of the condominium.

It became famous because it was one of the photos chosen by the 2010 Summer edition of Artful Blogging magazine to publish in its special story about Beverly and Pink Saturday!  It was such a thrill to see my photograph published along with all the other wonderful photos chosen by the magazine in that edition.

So as you see the color pink has brought a lot of excitement to my life in the past few years since I've been contributing, whenever I am able, to Pink Saturday. I've enjoyed searching for pink, reading as many Pink Saturday posts as I can each week, and enjoying so many wonderful friendships with other Pink Saturday bloggers.

Thank you Beverly for bringing Pink into my world each week!  I am so happy we found each other so many years ago when our blogs were brand new and I'm looking forward to many more pink discoveries!

Now  for the "Whoops" part of my post ......  I have to amend a Pink Saturday post from a few weeks ago entitled "Tickled Pink"

As it turns out my daughter-in-law's second sonogram showed she is not having a girl after all, but having another boy!  A surprise for all of us, but a happy one, non-the-less!

We will be thrilled to have another grandson to carry our name forward and we look forward to seeing two little boys become the best brothers and friends to each other as they grow!

Thank you for all your congratulations and best wishes. New life is always a miracle and we look forward to seeing our new grandson sometime in late Winter. As far as babies are concerned blue is as happy a color as pink!

I'm not a pink person either, Pat, but I love your pink mosaics. One of these days I'm going to learn to do those, even if it kills me. Ha. Wow - that chandelier. It's like something out of Versailles.

By the way, love the picture of the bride and bridesmaids.

Pat, I love getting this look back at the best of your pink posts. That chandelier is simply magnificent. I certainly know why the magazine picked it as part of the Pink Saturday spread. Congratulations!

That is so cool, Pat! I never would have thought Pink Power was so strong.

Evidently, not strong enough in the baby department, though ;) Congratulations on your future grandson!

What gorgeous photos! I dress my only girl in pink 5 out of 7 days a week. Luckily, she is still too young to care. Congrats on a grandson. Good thing your daughter found out about the mistake before he was born!

Hi Pat! I am back posting after being sick for a few days, and really missed you! Lots of things to talk about with this post. AWESOME!! But you must have just changed it. You had your adorable cat, with the pink ears and nose, and two colored eyes, then I went to look at your pictures from Ireland, and when I came back it was different. I think because of the baby news. Congradulations, I'm so happy for you!! Is there anything better than another grandchild to spoil? Those are the prettiest bridesmaids dresses I've ever seen in my life!! Usually brisesmaids dresses are so ugly!! The chandelier is totally awesome!!! ALL your pinks, so cute!!! The door in Ireland, I just had to go look at yout pictures from there, what is the Giants Causeway and the Newgrange thing? Everything here is just eye candy! Missed you!!

I didn't like pink until my hair turned grey and then I noticed that pink and grey go well together so now I like pink. You have found some amazing pink things over the years ,shows that you have a good imagination to be able to keep on finding things.

I actually love wearing pink with black - and I wear a lot of black to talk myself into the fact that it may be slimming (I don't think so anymore). The mosaics celebrate the power of pink. Halloween eve, a young boy came to my door with jeans and a pink shirt and a sign that read: "real men wear pink." Lovely posting - congrats on the hits and your upcoming addition to your family. How sweet it is!

Hello Pat, congrats on being featured on Pink Saturday. It has been way too long since I have visited you. I have been overwhelmed with company with no time on my computer. The story of my blogging life. However, I will always come back sooner or later. Smile. Especially to your wonderful blog.

Congratulations on the new baby boy coming. Double the love and I agree that the brothers will love having each other as they grow up.

I love your step back in time and your wonderful pink finds. I too must look for pink to post. I ran our of pink to share a long time ago. I agree about the chandelier being the star in your many beautiful pink posts. However, your daughter in her lovely pink bridesmaid dress is up there on the top of your pinks. She is beautiful. I did enlarge the photo.
All of your mosaics are so pretty and unusually presented.

Happy Pink Saturday.
Hugs, Jeanne

Those photos brought back lots of Pink Saturday memories with you, Pat. How I wish I had started running at a young enough age that I could be wearing PINK and running in the NYC marathon! Right now, I'm working on increasing my speed a bit for another 5K...with my next goal being a 10K one day! :)

I told you once before that life is full of surprises....I know that new little grand boy of yours will be a super duper special one, indeed!!

Hope you've had a great PSat! L, Dana

That chandelier is amazing! I too am not a pink person - I looked around the apartment, and the only pink is in the African violet flowers.
Congratulations on the second grandson!

Carol said...

Congrats on the baby blue :)

The pink chandelier is stunning, but I really love the pink brownstone! So many gorgeous pinks, but a pink brownstone? That made me smile!

H said...

I'm afraid I'm with the 'not-pink' people too. Now, if it were blue Saturday or green Saturday... :)
But, I do love the pink hair and you do have my favourite pink in your flowers montage; cherry blossom! I can't wait to see my flowering cherry beginning to bud again!!

Congratulations on a brace of boys! I have two sons. They can be extremely competetive, but also good friends.

For not being a pink person you have had very lovely pink posts. I loved the bridal picture! All your flower collages are gorgeous. loved your post today and congrats on being featured! I visited new York for the first time 3 yrs. ago I fell in LOVE with it! I went there to be in the audience of a PBS special Barry Manilow was taping in Brooklyn. It is a wonderful place with so much to see and so much history. I can't wait to go back! I wasn't a blogger back then but I did post about it not too long ago. We had quite a funny experience staying at the Waldorf Astoria. So glad to have found your blog.
Have a wonderful day!

This post made me grin from ear to ear. I'm not usually a big fan of pink (gasp!) but your photos are making a believer out of me! They are all gorgeous, but that wedding photo is just beautiful (your daughter is stunning) And the chandelier is just amazing, I still can't get over the fact that this actually hung in a building - it's massive! Congrats on the grandson. You'll have lots of funny stories to tell him when he gets older about the "pink"! Kat

Pink has to be the right shade for me..I am not really a pastel person (which is interesting because one of my favorite gardens here was a pastel pink and apricot garden...) although some of the more muted pastels work for me, but Pink was my grandmother's color....everything for her was about pink..flowers... her room...
That Pink wedding was beautiful and the chandelier is gorgeous!!

I am so thankful I had time to visit your blog this morning. It is so beautiful! The pink you shared is breath taking causing me to realize I enjoy pink even more than I was aware that I did. The pink dresses in that bridal party are just gorgeous, as is your daughter. The pink flowers, and pink everything made for a perfect blog mosaic. No wonder you had 60 some visitors. Your artistic skills and photography skills continue to add so much beauty to blogland. Keep it up.

Congratulations on another little grandson! So happy for you. Two little guys are better than one:)

You never can trust those ultrasounds! My nephew was expecting a son the first time around...even had a baby shower with all things pink...and they delivered a healthy gorgeous baby girl:) Hope you didn't buy too many pink things already:)

My daughter never wanted to know the gender of the child before they were born...it drove me crazy but I guess she was right!
