A Gentle Word....

A gentle word, like summer rain,

May soothe some heart and banish pain,

What joy or sadness often springs

From just the simple little things!

~ Willa Hoey

Pleasant words are as a honeycomb,

sweet to the mind and healing to the body

~ Proverbs 16:24
Be like the flower,

turn your face to the sun

~ Kahlil Gibran

We can complain because rose bushes have thorns,

or rejoice because thorn bushes have roses.

~ Abraham Lincoln

I'm praying for Boston and those killed and wounded in the horrific act of terrorism at the marathon. May those responsible be caught and brought to justice. May we all strive to make this world a better place.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that." ~ Martin Luther King, Jr.

Beautiful post,Pat! I can't wrap my mind around why people do what they do. But you are right about the amazing courage of others who run TOWARD those in danger and need instead of running away.

Lovely, LOVELY pictures!!

It is so hard to believe this happened so close to home. The New York Yankees sang Sweet Caroline during the game last night as a shout out to Boston. Leave it to NY, to be so kind. If anyone knows about tragedy and rising above it it is your beloved NY. Lovely post Pat, thank you.

I can't even imagine being able to hate that much. Even as a small child I couldn't understand the hatred I saw on the television news and I don't understand it any better today. I have a print of Norman Rockwell's "The Problem We All Live With" hanging in my entryway. It's one of my favorite Rockwells. It shows an innocent child surrounded by hatred. Once again we saw what hate can do. I think of that Rodney King quote..."Can't we all just get along?"

Lovely photos and words, and my heart echoes each one of them. And now a tragedy in West Texas with several people dead, oh my. I know it was not an act of terrorism, but truly tragic none-the-less. It does keep us praying for our friends and neighbours across the line.

Lovely, Pat, I did a tribute too.
They will never be the same just as OK City, NY and other places who have suffered terrorist attacks. I hope they solve it quicker than Benghazi. I am amazed at that whole situation, heard the mom of one killed speak, and the dad of one in Walter Reed from wounds from it. They are not allowed to speak. Very strange.
