Still Waiting!

Today is my grandson's due date, and so far he has not indicated that he wants this to be his birthday.

His daddy was born exactly on his due date, so I was spared the waiting game when he was expected, but I'm sure my grandson's special day will be finally be here very soon.

We can't wait to meet the little guy! I know a few of you already know his name, but I'm trying to keep it a secret until the day I announce his arrival. There are so few surprises in life any more.

Now I'm hoping that his birthday will be December 6 - St. Nicholas' feast day!
I always loved St. Nicholas, who is really the true Santa Claus.

I found this interesting comparison between St. Nicholas and Santa Claus that I thought you might enjoy reading too:

"Santa Claus and St. Nicholas

Everybody loves Santa Claus. He embodies holiday cheer, happiness, fun, and gifts—warm happy aspects of the Christmas season. How do Santa Claus and St. Nicholas differ?

Santa Claus belongs to childhood;

St. Nicholas models for all of life.

Santa Claus, as we know him, developed to boost Christmas sales—the commercial Christmas message;

St. Nicholas told the story of Christ and peace, goodwill toward all—the hope-filled Christmas message.

Santa Claus encourages consumption;

St. Nicholas encourages compassion.

Santa Claus appears each year to be seen and heard for a short time;

St. Nicholas is part of the communion of saints, surrounding us always with prayer and example.

Santa Claus flies through the air—from the North Pole;

St. Nicholas walked the earth—caring for those in need.

Santa Claus, for some, replaces the Babe of Bethlehem;

St. Nicholas, for all, points to the Babe of Bethlehem.

Santa Claus isn't bad;

St. Nicholas is just better.

—J. Rosenthal & C. Myers

This came from Saint Nicholas: Discovering the truth about Santa Claus web site, which shows traditions form around the world, how to celebrate his feast day with crafts and activities and games and stories for children.
Please keep us all in your prayers as we await our happy day!

Oh...the waiting game! My granddaughter was born almost two weeks after she was expected to arrive. Your life is sort of on-hold, right? Dec. 6th sounds like a good date...we'll stay tuned for the grand announcement.

December 6 sounds good, but then so do December 4, 5, and 7. Beyond that, we won't trouble.

What a lot of loot for the wee one. He's really blessed to be born into your family!

You've got us all on pins and needles, I hope you know. ;>

I know you all are anxious! I can't be that much longer.

Have you already planned when you are leaving?

Hope all goes well....and love all the 'goodies' you have in your picture.

You will make the best grandmother!

Pat, I hope he comes soon! I know how excited you must be, and look at all the cute baby things! Loved the comparison of Santa and St. Nicholas. I'm kind of hoping since he's a December baby his name will be Nicholas. That's a great name!

While you're waiting and anticipating, I gave you a blog award on Blue Monday. It's the "I'm Lovin' Your Blog Award." Just thought I'd give you that little cyber hug, and I do enjoy your blog a lot! :-)

Wishing you a soon-coming baby boy!

My sons were both late, the first one was 18 days late and the second one was 8 days late. Of course they won't let you go that long now. But it was worth the wait for the little bundles of joy. My thoughts are with you and your family.

The comparison between St. Nick and Santa was very informative and interesting.

Hugs Pat you must be beside yourself with anticipation. The 6th would be a good day. There is a book somewhere around here showing which days belongs to which saints. I bet there are some saint's names you wouldn't want to revive in your grandson's name. LOL they did have some strange ones as I recall. Very interesting comparisson- I like it, thank you.

Ooo what lovely outfits all ready for him.
