Where Have I Been? Alaska!

My entire family enjoyed a wonderful Princess Cruise to the Alaska Inside Passage at the end of July. It was a celebration for my husband and my 50th wedding anniversary! We all had a wonderful time! My husband and I had traveled on a land and sea cruise to Alaska in 2019--click on this blog tab-- and scroll through those many blog posts if you have not seen them.

This was the first time our son and daughter-in-law, our daughter and son-in-law, and all our grandchildren visited Alaska, and it was extra special to see it through their eyes while also enjoying new sights ourselves.

Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier

We saw the most amazing sights, both on the cruise ship and at the places we visited on land.  I will be showing all the highlights in future blog posts.

Unfortunately for me, I developed a horrible sinus infection on the last day of our cruise, and when I returned home, I somehow developed a corneal ulcer on one eye, which required a therapeutic contact lens bandage. I am still wearing that bandage, and have had some good and bad days adjusting to the healing process, which has kept me offline.  As my sight improves, I promise to be back more consistently, as I've missed blogging and reading all my favorite blogs!

In the meantime, I hope everyone has enjoyed their summer! Can you believe it is September? I hope to catch up with you all soon!

It must have been so much fun travelling with your whole family. A great way to celebrate your 50th anniversary. Congratulation! Sorry to hear you have an eye problem. I remember you had an eye problem when I tried to meet you in New York. Hopefully, it will heal well.

Well, first of all, I hope you are fully healed soon. I suppose if it has to happen, the last day beats the first, but no fun. At least you had a grand time with your family. That's just so special and I know you enjoyed every second (well, till the infection.)

First off, sorry about the problem with your eye. That can absolutely miserable. A bad sinus infection is bad enough. I hope you heal quickly.
I love your photos and love that so much of your family went.

Oh, no--I'm so sorry about your eye. This sounds like such a wonderful trip! Alaska is on my bucket list. I love the Pacific Northwest, and although this is obviously much more north, the seaside and greenery remind me of British Columbia, which I also love. :) Hope your eye heals up quickly! Visiting from the Talking About it Tuesday linkup.

This trip will certainly be remembered. What a wonderful experience. And congratulations from the bottom of my heart to ❤️ on your wedding anniversary!

What a pity that you have health problems. And yes, I can understand it. I had a so-called Bowman polish on my cornea in Munich in 2021. There are specialists here and they were able to help me. However, I had to wear the protective contact lens and eye patch for six months.

Best wishes for health!

So sorry about your eye. I hope it heals completely and quickly!
The cruise looks amazing. I will never get to see Alaska, but I sure enjoy all the photos I see of that magical land.

What a wonderful time with your family, Pat. Alaska is such a gorgeous place to visit. We were on a cruise there a few years ago. Next time we go we hope to drive. One of my nephews lives there. I'm sorry to hear about your eye and will pray that it heals well.

Looks like a wonderful cruise, made even better by having your family join you! Sorry to hear about your health problems. Perhaps fortunate that they were at the end of your cruise. Wishing you a speedy recovery!

I know you all had the most amazing time. One of my most wonderful family memories (and I actually inherited my Mother's travel notebook with every single penny spent on trip, kind of her vacation accounting book / journal of 1968 !!! My father worked for the Cleveland Plain Dealer as a pressman and he saved all his time off to be able to leave on June 5th 1968 (getting us out of school early back then) and traveling until August 31st, getting back right before Labor Day as we started school Tuesday after labor day back then.... to take us on a trip from Parma Ohio, up to Canada from Buffalo, NY and then across Canada to the West Coast (thru center of Canada, so we even hit a rodeo & many of their natural parks on the way across in Canada) to the Alaskain Highway, which was 100% DIRT back then up to Alaska ! We did all the major cities, Mt McKinley as it was known then, along the coast , inland, glaciers, and the northern point accessible by road back then. IT was approx 10 weeks of the most amazing trip. 2nd best was out trip 'out west' in 1966; started from Ohio early June, up Wisconsin/ Minn, North and South Dakotas, all the indian nation areas, Little Big Horn, Wyoming, Montana , Yellowstone, Glacier National Parks and on and on. That too was amazing and we were gone almost 10 weeks that summer too. So, YES , I know wonderful memories were had by those grandkids and your own adult kids !!!! Dawn P. Albany, GA
